Russia was always going to win the war, they could put more men and materials into the war than Ukraine could.

The only real questions were going to be, how much men and materials would russia lose, and would it be an actual victory or would it be similar to afganistan where you occupy the land but get bled non-stop.

The larger mobilization being talked about would involve sending the (white) sons of the Moscow/St Petersburg elite to the front. Risky, but his totalitarian agitation/propaganda is building a base for it.
