how do I generate gaming discussion without being hated on here? We don't want Biden 24/7.

How do I generate gaming discussion without being hated on here? It seems people don't like me for some reason even though I try to be neutral.

I want to get into more lore stuff like some of the YT channels out there that have interesting discussions about games especially Nintendo but it appears here people have perceived views and are stuck in their ways here not accepting outside people. It really makes it sucky because the dedicated places are ran by kids who can't do the discussions and weird 🤬 then happens if you try. Those places are practically dead now.




Not all of us want to discuss Biden 24/7.

I don't generally in the other channels.

Usually the cooking threads are just cooking, for example.

I find that if you keep your discussion apolitical, most people will oblige unless you've really gotten under their skin or they're really far gone. Just discuss it how you want and don't get baited.

People are accepting here. It's just easier if your opinions line up with the majority.

Join the rest of us outcasts. Welcome. It's not too bad being the minority at ATS.

Even I get a few stars now and then.

The important thing is that you let your opinion be known, so those who are not as comfortable stating theirs, know that others feel the same, even though it seems everyone here thinks the same. They do not.

Sometimes, not often, people will agree with you, that you'd never expect. Happens to me, happens to all here.

Many good people here on ATS, from all walks and all sides. Even if I disagree with them or they disagree with me. It's always good to have a well-rounded understanding of where everyone is coming from.

Don't take things to personally. If I did, I be hiding in a basement somewhere taking depression meds. LOL! I'm not.

What if I want to discuss how I feel the economy and general world situation will screw up the industry messing with people's expectations? A lot of folks were expecting (wrongly) that Nintendo was going to eat your wallet but all we have gotten were 3rd party titles the last 2 years. Nintendo really hyped Animal Crossings forgetting their other IP's.

Do you think the time of day is a problem as I was posting at night most of the time. I don't have a phone so I don't do things live where as on Youtube everybody seems to come and go at once since they went to phones. If your late to a channel you get weird replies at best if at all.

This is a primarily a conspiracy theory discussion board.

There is a forum here for gaming but it's generally considered BTS.

There are plenty of places for in depth discussions about games. With ATS, you just have to take what you can get in such topics.

I would think if you continue to generate 5 or 6 threads about gaming minutia each day people will come around eventually. They need somebody to coax them out of their shells.

I have no preconceived notions about games. I suspect that since I don't consume YouTube content that is specifically marketed to 7-12 year olds I have thusfar managed to avoid the vigorous brainwashing they do. It allows me to view ATS with an open mind when weighing the speculation that a video game I've never heard of is delayed by suspicious circumstances.

Your posts give me a true glimpse into a mysterious world I don't understand and, if I may be so bold, are exactly what this site has been in desperate need of.

Your perseverance making threads will pay off, maybe in a week, or month, but it will pay off. Godspeed.

I play plenty, but my selection is limited to a few titles. I don't buy anything and everything that comes along. My tastes are particular and the AAA industry seldom hits the right spot for me being overly concerned with action shooters of little story. I occasionally indulge, but it's not my main preference and I don't regularly toss lots of money at those things.

I spend more time and effort on indy games these days.

Look at this like a big brother having a talk with a younger sibling .

1) A poster can wear out a topic .
2) You have to be varied with the OP and posts .
3) 3rd party games can be great , too . (in the PC world we call them "indie" games for independent .) Some of the best games I own were developed by one person. One .
4) The economy has never really had an affect on releases of new titles . Why ? The producers always count on long term sales , not release date sales . Only AAA games rely on release date sales to judge popularity .
5) Games get postponed for various reasons . The number 1 reason is it is not ready .

PS : You are not hated. Nor will be .

I don’t actually login that much, I visit daily and check posts for breaking news or to get different perspectives on events and news that I notice on mainstream sources. However I wanted to respond to your post here. I’ve seen several of your op’s especially regarding video games. I’m 53 and grew up on them. I still have an operational PONG unit and basically every system since except the newest (ps5 and Xbox whatever it is now). I love the escape it provides. However my issue with some of your op’s is that I just can’t quite figure out what exactly you are trying to say. Sometimes your titles barely match what you are posting about. It’s quite possible that it’s me and I just can’t follow what you are asking or attempting to say. Anyway I don’t mean that as an insult in anyway possible. Keep posting on what you are passionate about. You are correct that things don’t need to be political 24/7. I started coming here in 2008 specifically for aliens/ ufos and conspiracies in general but the past few years have become a political sounding board and troll central hence why I don’t bother logging in 90% of the time.
Now to address something you’ve mentioned in other posts. BOTW. My favorite game of all time. My hope is I won’t have to buy a new Switch just to play the sequel, but knowing Nintendo, that’s exactly what they have planned. I discovered a different game called Immortal: Fenyx Rising several months ago and I have to say it is also excellent even if it is a BOTW ripoff (which it is). If you haven’t tried it, there is a free demo from their store. It helps stave off the pangs of wanting BOTW2.
Anyway thanks for posting this thread which at the least inspired me to find my password and respond to you. Good luck and don’t stop posting simply because you don’t get the response you maybe expecting. Someday I’ll figure out how to start a thread and I might even attempt one. don't overthink this, if you need more responses I'd check out REDDIT plenty of gaming communities and it's a lot more active than ATS. but keep on posting here too, I read your stuff all the time.

I dont do modern gaming but i do collect and indeed play old consoles and electronic games. Unfortunately I cant seem to upload any pics using Chrome on my Macbook Pro

Maybe it´s because people think like me about gaming. They play games and when they close down the games again they continue to live in the real world instead of staying in that gamer bubble 24/7. It´s about fleeing from reality for a while, to chill for a while without thinking much about lore, characters etc.

I played games to the end and still don´t know the names of the protagonists i played in these games because it doesn´t make any difference if i know them or not so they are not of interest for me. It makes no difference for me if the name of the guy on the horse in RDR2 is called Flammenwerfer-Hans or Joe Doe, it doesn´t change the game play at all ( go there, shoot somebody, go there, shoot somebody, go there, shoot somebody...). These characters are only pixels/fantasy and not real people. Why should i think about them and their background story?

Started to play This Land Is My Land and Satisfactory since the steam summer sale. Can´t again tell you the name of my characters in both games, don´t know the name of my camp in TLISM and never ever wasted on thought about why and how the guy i play in Satisfactory ended up alone on a planet to build a huge factory to destroy the environment of said planet and i don´t even know if the planet has a name or not. I start the game and then i have to deal with the scenario, thats where my thoughts are at when playing games. I want to have fun and success and not having to think about any fantasy background stories or even start to worship pixel characters like some do with pop stars, athletes, movie actors etc.

Not many people dive that deep into the worlds of the several games they play from time to time like you do, most people start a game, play it, close it down and don´t think about it anymore till they start it again. Because dealing with real life and real world is more challenging than any game could ever be (no respawn, dead is dead) and our heads should be clear for informations we need to deal with the reality and not game lore or whatever.

I hope this doesn´t sound to harsh and like i wanted to attack you because you do what you do. I just tried to explain what went through my head when i saw your thread about game lore videos on youtube with no comments from other members (last time i saw it) from a few days ago. Most gamers want to play games and not to live in them so they don´t care for lore or whatever.

Nobody hates you and you simply should continue doing what you like, humans and their interests are very different and nobody is better or worse than others because of his interests!!!

I'm not sure why you think people hate gaming threads, we see gaming threads all the time, and they are usually free of politics. It's usually the one place we can discuss common interests without worrying about politics.
