The Apollo 11 Seismograph only lasted a month before went dark - probably from overheating during lunar "day"

Later seismographs used a different design to avoid this problem

Were powered by nuclear generator using decay heat from plutonium 238 to run thermionic system to convert heat to electricity

Plutonium 238 has half life of 5 year so in the 50 years since be left on moon the plutonium heat source would have decayed to nothing

Data was received from 1969 to 1977
