Perceptive comment. I've mentioned before the generation that felt it defined itself in 1968 is now in charge (how establishment of them ) and determined to finish the revolution they started then.

Other things, generationally, have gone on as well. That 1968 generation has so fanatically clung to the positions in society they have that they screwed up normal career progressions for people who were born (roughly) in the 1950s and early 1960s. The dinosaurs cling fanatically to power, and the people getting middle grade advances now were born in the late 60s or later. Effectively, an entire generation got squeezed by the geriatrics who refused to consider retirement or other activities when they were in their late 60s.

Another effect of that generation hanging on is that they are fixated on issues that don't resonate with the youth of today; thus, they've warped the school system into becoming indoctrination centers to ensure those coming up think "correctly".
