The Seance -SN2022- non-writer

We sat around the old Ouija board. The room was darkened with faint light coming from the fireplace.
We asked the first question, and while patiently waiting for the answer, a piercing scream cut the silence; the house cat ran through our circle with its tail on fire. In just seconds the curtains and carpets were burning. The room rapidly filled with black smoke which crawled up against the walls, revealing horrible demonic faces with their mouths wide open!
We gasped for air, and just when I thought “it's over”, everything seemed normal again, except for the cat's smoking tail.

The End

That's excellent, KindraLabelle2! I like how the cat's presence lightens the mood of the dramatic situation. The final twist makes for a great cliffhanger.

I expected a more normal conclusion to the séance - like a ghost entering one of the participants and changing their personality, or table shaking causing everyone to run from the room screaming- the usual 'Ouija board danger' tales of what will happen.
