Weird Trash In My Hood

I so cannot figure out what is going on in my neighborhood.

A street, a small street that is a way through the neighborhood has four shopping carts full of trash and another major street has two of them, all within a half mile of my house. These are not leftover crap from a homeless person being arrested and their stuff is left on the street. No, these carts have things like fenders from a car, one is full of broken sheet rock, or maybe ceiling tiles?

These are clearly NOT from a homeless person. There's is absolutely NOTHING worth keeping, so it gets left on these streets. How, why, who I just don't get. I have a house in the hood and my garbage bin is quite large, there's no reason to put trash out like this. One can put old, dumpy and difficult trash out every other week for large trash pickup. Hell, I've got loads of trash and I ain't a gonna put it out on the street like this and if I did, it would NOT be on a side street in a shopping cart. I have my own bins and they work quite well.

There's just no reason for this but it's all over. Random trash, in so very odd places. This minor street has been a victim of this for years. I've seen stolen(had to be) vehicles sit out there, get the sticker from the cops to remove it and then the tires are removed, the car is sitting on blocks and someone, eventually, has to come and tow the car. They can't sell it for scrap as it has to be stolen.

I'm not making this up. If I could get pics on ATS I would but that don't work.

So what the hell am I seeing? These spots are on the sides of houses, not in front, it's all on this side street even though one is a major street but what happens on this street that I travel almost every day is confounding. So much trash, all over the street as they eventually get kicked around and spilled all over the place.

There's a bicycle, near there, that's chained to a light post. It's been ripped of anything useful and I wonder if one of the recent carts which had some bicycle tires in it played into this. Maybe from that bike, which is unusual. It's completely spray painted white. The whole bike, except the chain. It's ripped from anything useful and I don't know how long it's been there, but I did see bicycle tires in one of the carts recently.

I'm so very clueless. I can't figure this puzzle out.

Maybe someone is trying to drive property values down?

Over the past couple of decades, I've seen two areas that went steadily downhill. One had many small, single family homes, the other had a couple of apartment complexes. Both areas became crime magnets. Eventually the city condemned the areas and razed them. The one with apartments now has more modern apartments, a Walmart, and a shopping center. The one with the houses became a community college and currently there is a casino under construction.

What used to be low income housing for people who had no where else to go is now generating substantial revenue for the city instead of being a drain on city services. Not to mention very profitable projects for the developers.

Fly tipping, costs money to dispose of trash in a tip/dump, generally a flat fee depending on the vehicle size, or weight if they have a weigh bridge.

A seemingly abandoned bicycle, painted all white, is usually referred to as a "Ghost Bike".

Ghost Bikes are placed as memorials to cyclists who have died, usually as a result of a traffic accident, at, or near the site of the accident.

It is very disrespectful to vandalize such a memorial (like destroying a tombstone).

Bikes painted white and padlocked to trees and poles etc...are spots where someone was killed by a car. All over Detroit. Of course....

Could be in case of the sheetrock, that the local garbage dumb are assholish about it.

Like, I had glass sheet rock to dispose. Not the real nasty stuff with asbestos, the semi nasty one from currently. I went there first time when it was stuffed in old paint cans. They sent me back and scolded me I need to bag it.

I bagged in plastic bags and taped close, on the trailer. They scolded me an idiotess and sent me back (!) home a second time, reason: the stuff is not packaged correctly. BUT it's no big deal I drive it all the way home, probably spilling more micro glass fibers, as they claimed it would, I guess?

The third time I went there, now I got the bags of the same material but paid tripple the money, it was "not the right day to dispose this". So I drove back home again.

And shoved it into my normal garbage bin, compressed it half-way towards the density of a diamond with the help of my 3ton front loader and called it a day. For a short moment I wanted to drive the forks through the whole bin and drive it to the dump site that way and just dump it there myself.

But that would have got me into trouble. Maybe people in your neighborhood do not have 3ton front loaders and the criminal energy to dispose the sheet rock in a normal trash can?
