What's the price of chicken in Mexico got to do with America?

The topic is Mexico having gun laws you think the USA should have, and modeling USA gun laws that are more restrictive like Mexico. But, yet, Mexico with its smaller population has more homicides, higher homicides per capita by 5 times, and mass homicides as attested to by the finding of mass graves.

We dont have guns in the same to similar manner as the USA and there are not many mass shootings or school slaughters

What we get in total crimes in New York is less than half the crime offenses in London which in 2020-2021 was 746,126 compared to 342,453 in New York in 2020.

London is very much a unique place and definitely not representative of the UK.

I'm not denying there are problems here in the UK....but mass school shootings isn't one of them - hopefully that will not change.
Yes, gun related crime is on the increase....but its still incredibly rare.
Most criminals do not have guns - the minimum sentence for just for illegally possessing a gun is 7 years.

Yes, its possible to buy guns but its not as easy as many would imagine....and its even harder to get reliable ammunition.

But the UK is not the US.
Yes, we have some shared values etc but gun ownership is not one of them.
As I have repeatedly stated and acknowledged, gun ownership is engrained in the American psyche.
And there are that many guns in circulation in the US that the introduction of any UK style gun control laws would be lunacy and would only result in carnage.

But - and its as big a but as possible - something has to be done because what you have at present is broken and isn't working.
Far too many children are being killed.

There are several contributory factors....but as a quick fix you need to stop these guns into the hands of the people who are doing the killing.
Then you need to start addressing the root causes of why so many people want to commit these horrific acts.

The obsession with Democratic/Republican partisan politics seems to actively prevent you from doing anything.
Its a constant stream of playing the blame game and engaging in petty and childish whataboutisms.
Next week when this tragedy is but a vague memory for many, people will be engaging in the same lame arguments, the same finger pointing, the same histrionics and the same whataboutisms around the next big headline.....and nothing will get done.
And then it starts all over again when the next lunatic takes it upon themselves to go kill a bunch of innocent schoolchildren etc.

Wash, rinse, repeat ad infinitum.....and who gains by that?
Certainly not the likes of you or I that's for sure.
