News stories about toxoplasmosis have been popping up all over my news feed.

An estimated 50% of people everywhere are infected with this parasite.

Hmm... What is something that just about everybody is doing to cause this infection?

In a recent study of healthy young people, the people who were shown to be infected with this parasite were the sexiest in the sample.

In one study, Toxoplasma-infected male rats were perceived as more sexually attractive and were preferred as sexual partners by non-infected females," researchers explain in a new paper led by first author and biologist Javier Borráz-León from the University of Turku in Finland.

In one such new study, researchers found that men and women infected by the parasite ended up being rated as more attractive and healthier-looking than non-infected individuals.

The researchers go on to stupidly speculate that this parasite may actually have health benefits.

Of course, pretty much nobody wants to admit the obvious, that those having the most sex are the ones becoming the most infected.

Meow.

At first I thought you were talking about “spanish fly” before I read the article.

A parasite is not a good thing.

Maybe it’s a military bio weapon?

As far as I've always heard, if you've at least lived with a murder floof, you have likely had those hitchhikers, if not still.

There's a hell of a lot of synchronicity to our own gut & skin biomes that we're still learning about. i think T.G realistically probably fits in there, too.

Military bioweapon??? Ya it's called the genitalia.

People tend to blame the prevalence of this parasite on cats.

The numbers don't align.

About a quarter of households have cats, but about half of people have this parasite.

Cats are fully weaponized, We are their servants....can't you comprehend reality?

I do think that women who own cats do tend to be a little sexier, that is because they are used to being controlled already and this microbe has been shown to make women more friendly while it makes guys more grouchy...probably because it increases testosterone in men.

That is why they often tell pregnant women not to change the cat litter.

Also:

More than 40 million men, women, and children in the U.S. carry the Toxoplasma parasite, but very few have symptoms because the immune system usually keeps the parasite from causing illness.

Cats can be lethal weapons!
A big lion can be dangerous, but a little pussy never hurt anybody!

I'm guessing that number is closer to 150 million, if not more.

I doubt many children get it, until they reach puberty.

Cats definitely spread it why people think it's perfectly normal to have a animal go to the bathroom in there home I will never know

But more to the point hear it also spreads from eating undercooked meat and anything that comes into contact with animal waste that coveres alot of the food chain

What we should really be looking at is why everyone dosent have it because with how it spreads most of us should

Was that a pun intended?

An orgasm can cause bad breath.

An hour after sex, "a slight seminal odor" can be detected on the breath of a woman, according to Theodore van de Velde.

Looks like the rotting meat is our own, and it is self inflicted.

If I am correct, the laymans term for toxoplasmosis is “cat scratch fever”.

No one said it's the only way, only the most common.

Sounds like a bad guess. Wishful thinking. Blaming your pet for your own issue. Scapecatting.

It's not a guess, it's a scientific fact cat feces is contaminated by it. Outdoor cats eat infected animals, get infected, and pass the infection through their feces for weeks. Pregnant women should not be cleaning cat litter as a result. Infected animals lose their fear of predators, making them easy prey. It's estimated as many as 40% of cats get infected at some point.

Have you ever heard of a shovel? People use things like that when getting rid of cat turds, so they never come into contact with it.

If only 40% of cats are infected with toxoplasmosis, that is nowhere near accounting for all the estimated toxoplasmosis cases in humans.
