I think this bio lab bs on the internet is a lot of bunk. Any lab can be made into a bio weapons lab. It's not hard. All you need are the scientists, technicians, equipment and few viruses/bacteria that are easy to work with.

There's a little more to it than that, but it is complete BS, the U.S. and international groups were monitoring the former russian weapons labs in Ukraine to ensure they were never again used to produce bio weapons, russia is accusing the U.S. and international agencies of lying and producing stockpiles of bio weapons in those labs.


With absolutely zero evidence, russia just made the whole thing up as 'justification' for invading Ukraine to steal land again.

The credibility of Russian media as regards the war is minus zero. It is possible that some Ukrainian bad actors could have produced bio weapons to be sold to third parties. But the problem with bio weapons is stability and delivery - like sarin gas - it has a very short lifetime and has to be manufactured over and over again making stockpiling impractical.
Viruses/bacteria can be frozen but there's still a huge problem with delivery as a weapon.

In any case, the Russians made the whole thing up out of thin air with absolutely zero evidence.

Absolutely correct.

Though it's far more likely that any bad actors would make their bioweapons in an abandoned building somewhere, due to the US and international monitoring of Ukraine's bio labs, monitoring that is a direct result of russia previously using those same facilities to actually produce bio weapons.

Ukraine's labs are about the last place on the planet that any bad actor would want to try such a thing.

True. Employment of biological and chemical weapons is messy and has unpredictable results.

Even with a nuclear strike, a sudden wind shift can send fallout in an unanticipated direction.

Funny you don't look at things in their entirety do you? The Arab league was pushing for a no-fly zone to prevent the indiscriminate bombing of civilians like barrel bombs for example. They petitioned the UN the security council voted and a resolution was signed. As part of the 2011 military intervention in Libya, the United Nations Security Council approved a no-fly zone on 17 March 2011. The resolution includes provisions for further actions to prevent attacks on civilian targets. On 24 March, NATO agreed to take control of the no-fly zone. Shortly thereafter, several NATO members proceeded to mount an aerial offensive campaign, in which numerous Libyan government positions would be intentionally bombed.This was in response to them directly attacking civilians .

Now having said that it could be argued the no-fly zone made things worse the correct action would have been sending peacekeepers but no one had the stomach for that.

Just getting back on topic, friends in Moscow report that life is fairly normal. Sanctions are there, high end goods not available, but otherwise, people are working - life as usual. I have a couple of American friends living in Moscow (Russian origin). They report there's been no harassment or problems.

Any "revolt" was shut down asap. As long as the government keeps all this in check, not much negativity will be heard from the people.

Interesting though - lots of Russians from Ukraine have resettled in Moscow and other areas. Government has housing and help for them. Apparently, they keep coming too. Information from friends - no media reports.
