If Russia wanted to actually flatten the Ukraine, they would send in tactical bombers like they did in Syria. Remember that?

Pretty much this if anyone had common sense and not bias. Like when everyone is making a big deal out of Russian helicopters being shot down. They are like oh look this chopper got shot down Russian equipment is trash etc etc. Uh, it's a helicopter no amount of armor or build quality is going to help against modern munitions. A rifleman can kill a 70 ton tank with a disposable rocket he carries on his back of course a chopper is going to go down if hit with a anti aircraft missile. This isn't the movies.

What Russia wants and what they can do are two different things. They can't use bombers, as an example.

So, my first question is what took them so long... RT acts like it was some kind of victory for Russia, so I guess anything is better than nothing as bad to worst news keeps rolling in for them. The interesting part is they said they surrendered because their mission is done and that mission was to keep a sizable Russian force there around them so they could not be used in other areas as Ukraine pretty much has pushed them back over their border in the North East. Russia all back-slapping each other never knowing they were played.

The blockade of the Azovstal plant continues. Civilians held there by Ukrainian nationalists have been evacuated from the plant. 177 people were rescued, including 85 women and 47 children. Each citizen is provided with security and qualified medical and psychological assistance.

Nationalists blocked inside the plant are actively surrendering. To date, 1,908 people have laid down their arms. He reminded that 1,387 marines had previously laid down their arms.

I could have gotten them out. Just out of boot camp back in the early 80s my army unit trained on an urban assault vehicle project code named the EM 50. It employed undercover stealth and concealment technology utilizing camouflage. Bypassing russian troops and rescuing friendly personnel behind enemy lines was just the mission profile it was designed for. We'd have been in and out and they never would have known we were there. We did exactly that in Czechoslovakia.
