Bill Gates is the largest investor of vaccines and a pandemic hits. He's the k]largest private farmland owner and a food crisis hits. He launches his 'artificial breast milk' withing days of an infant formula crisis.

I'm sure it's totally coincidental.

It wasn’t in the cards for us. I am concerned about our future children if future availability is scarce. A home recipe for dire straights would be most handy.

I hope it didn’t come across this way, but I was in no way shaming mothers that can’t breastfeed. There are plenty of reasons why some can’t, myself included. I was able to easily breastfeed two of my kids, but one of them I was ill and couldn’t. I was lucky that I was able to for a few months but had to stop. She was fed formula. Knowing what I know now, if I had to go back I would have gone to a milk bank instead.

And indeed, even as I left things out,due to the depths of cause and effect of these crisis's some of what you, I think left out in your synopsis are also important to take into consideration. One being the horrific history of privately owned production plants maiming their local environments along with the history of producing product that are out and out harmful to human consumption. Please don't ask for lists.

We are both old enough to remember in our own lives a period when the Democrat Party was seen as being progressive and ushering in these regulations and restrictions, all in the name of saving the environment and peoples health while at the same time the right of corporations to ''police'' themselves was bandied about by Republicans.

At this point, from what I can see, both parties play to the lowest common denominator. Play to the shallowness of whatever ''ideals'' their constituents hold with while at the same time pointing out the shallowness of the opposition. And most of this as I see it has been brought about by the shallowness of modern pop culture that goes back decades, for much of my 75 years. That old hack utilized by the mafia of '' we are only providing the public what it wants'' became the mantra of American industry. They want cigarettes? Givem cigarettes and fill em with addictive substances. And subsidize the tobacco industry at the same time. The people want cheat clothes, have em made over seas. They want cheap food, grow it over seas and sell stuff it with filler. We both know this line of thought.

So Biden? Oh yeah, there is no flavor to him other than a face to put on the attempt to keep the charade going and going as long as possible. But Trump? A face to say, look, look, see what's going on? Join me and I will change it. Bosh. I don't believe him for a heart beat. The true direness of our situation greatly exceeds the oppositional platforms espoused by either party.

So far from what I understand, the shortage is sporadic.

Also, not every infant can drink every formula. Some do better on certain brands, some do better on other brands. Sometimes it's quite the ordeal to figure out which one they can tolerate. So if one brand is out, that can throw some people into turmoil, even though the shelves are stocked with other brands.

Infant formula just isn't as good as plain old mother's milk. I know some can't breastfeed, but those who can, should.

What happened to mama's titties?

Our kids never had "formula." Both breastfed until they could chew.

I understand that there are sometimes issues with that, but not so that the entire damn western world is Ina tizzy.

It’s a lot more than you realize which is the reason for the bottle in the first place.
Some moms die in childbirth, some get ill after and can’t feed, sometimes it’s the baby that is sick.
Sometimes babies need both breastmilk and a supplement especially preemies.

In the past some babies just didn’t live, that’s what happened. We come a long way with infant mortality.

People say that but when a mom wants to breastfeed some people lose their mother loving minds.
Heaven forbid anyone see a………………………..nipple!
I’m speaking as an American, Americans are really weird when it comes to breastfeeding, especially in public.

My grandfather had live animals, he raised them, we got fresh milk, then he will do a kill every few weeks and my father will pick choices of meat to bring home, our main diet was mostly fresh fish, because we lived in an Island.

I do not remember anybody getting sick from this way of life, actually we were healthier and stronger.

I was already 9 years old when the American vaccinations came to the Island, the only one I got at birth was the one everybody got that leaved a big scar for life.

I do not remember anybody getting "allergies to peanuts" we got peanut warm milk at school with a whole full prepared lunch every day.

I mean you could smell the cooking all morning until lunch time everybody was soo hungry by that time nothing went to waste.

The crap they give children in schools is incredible this days.

The shot you got was smallpox I bet.
It leaves a squarish indentation in that area.

Im convinced peanut allergies is not actually the peanuts but what is sprayed on them.
They are one of the most pesticide laden crops.

I also found out that people allergic to gluten can usually eat heirloom wheat that hasn’t been sprayed, funny right!

Yeah, some environmental regulations are needed, certainly. However, this is not a case of "more is always better." Too many and we stifle industry... they have to be able to make a profit, remember, and that means that some of these regulations are simply blocks to industry completely.

Balance is the key.

As for Trump, regardless of what was reported I could see a difference in the economy. Unemployment was down, wages were starting to rise naturally, and all this was happening with very minor inflation. Even manufacturing was starting to come back. There was a lot more to be done, of course, but one does not counter decades of abuse with an overnight fix. In comparison, unemployment may be down but only because so many people retired; the job participation rate is dropping like a rock. We have supply chain shortages, and hyperinflation that is outstripping wages at an amazing pace.

That is really easy to see, but there is a caveat: one must look at reality instead of listening to the media.

I don't want to get into a debate over Donald Trump here; it wouldn't matter if his name was Octavious Humperdink. The point is that a President actually tried to follow through on campaign promises and improved the country, while another hasan't followed through on his campaign promises and we now see shortages in something as important to society as baby formula. There's a lesson in there should anyone care enough to look.

I think some of that is that we do have adolescent males running around. Speaking as someone who was an adolescent male at one time, the amount of stimulation required to interest an adolescent male is on the same line of intensity as a slight breeze. A woman's exposed breast? Oh, that's hardcore porn!

Of course, the fact that the USA has tabooed the bare breast hasn't helped with that. I do agree we are still far too puritanical for our own good.

However, I think the simple act of draping a light cloth over the breast once the child is in position should be enough to be socially acceptable. There's nothing wrong with the human body, and nothing wrong with a modicum of modesty. Balance.

At least we got a face with Trump and very vocal one, with biden you have to use a translator or bring some Raggedy Ann to explain what he means, meanwhile he is the completely manipulated zero that this nation ever had, I am sure Soros and Obama knows exactly what is going on in the office of the president this days, biden have no clue.

When fat men that ride on lawn mowers topless drape a light cloth over their breasts I’ll agree with you.

That's the truth. Also men need a better understanding of breast feeding. Recently read a story of a woman who had some of her supplies taken away for pumping by the TSA. The TSA guy also couldn't understand why she would need it as her baby wasn't with her. Smh.

And I'll agree back when they put on some clothes... sheesh!

You would have to bring up that mental image...

But seriously, it is acceptable for males to be shirtless in public. No one is gonna have to walk bent over because of a fat guy without a shirt... unless they're puking, of course.

You weren’t at all I didn’t get that from your post what so ever.
I just wanted to share a personal anecdote how even despite the best effort some times you need help and that now that help is less available then it was before. It seems by design too, like most of the problems I encounter these days.

I cannot disagree with you about Biden. However I must also say that with Trump being so vocal it seems that though he manages to provide complete sentences for the most part they appear to me to be not much more. He jumps from one impulsive notion to another as if there is no bridge between his thoughts other than what can be used to rile up his base along with his own personal peeves.

My point of view? How can we blame this on the Biden administration? You have been here on ATS for what, 15 years? And me, over ten?. Have we not seen in our lives here and beyond the major prognostication that it was all going to unravel? It hasn't just been doom porn, It's been serious attempts, to a fair degree, to perceive our place and time in history. I don't know about you though I suspect like me, our perspectives have decades of personal development though obviously from different political perspectives.

You know that one ''catch phrase'' of the Rocks? ''It don't matter what your name is". He would toss his head back and scream it into the microphone?. I say it's don't matter who the Potus is. So yes, Trump was in the cat seat at one point in our narrative. He came after Obama who came after Bush. During Bush, the housing market exploded and the lending companies over extended and the crash of, generally, 06/07 hit us. I saw it as a ''lurch''. Our entire economic system has been lurching along for decades running from one period of money grab to another to an other with ''lurches'' between them all. That one before Obama was pretty dramatic.

So the country voted in Obama and what did he do? He handed over the reigns, or rather handed them back to Wall Street and all those who wanted to set up the next money grab. And they took it an did their rebuild. And it was working. Finance was getting sounder and the core structure of the economic system was beginning to hum again.

When Trump came in, all he did was pick the fruit from the tree that had been maturing for eight years and claimed it for himself. ''Look what I did''. It wasn't him, it was the system of economic manipulation designed to keep the powers that be from the last decades and keep them in power, simple as that. He just wanted his piece of the pie, him being one who recognizes a money grab when he sees one. But off of Trump.

We would be where we are now regardless if it were Trump, Clinton, Biden or whoever else might have connived the public into believing they could fix things. We have, for at least the last fifty years and more likely the last hundred and fifty, been slowly taken over by the corporate structures, those engines of capitalist enterprise that have found no check in wealth creation other than the basic flaws in that system. So be it, we dance with the one who brung us.
