Peter Pan enters the public domain in 2023.

I'm exploring interesting takes on the classic story to reflect current events.

Thinking of calling it, Peter Pansexual.

Tinkerbell has blue hair and tries to cancel everything.

The Lost Boys of Neverland never age due to taking puberty blockers.

Could possibly work in a Florida gator that terrorizes Captain Hook.

Mermaid live matter. Pans shadow will also be the main protagonists and will be played by Will Smith.

Well if never land has Indians then they are there illegally. Unless of coarse what they are, are actually native neverlandians but that don’t sound PC enough to fit the script

Peter Pan wasn’t written by Disney per se they adopted it and some how aborted it at the same time (que joke drums)

The story itself went public domain a few years ago. That happens either 70 or 75 years after an author dies. Barrie died late 1930s, so it's probably been public domain for around fifteen years or so at this point.

I'm not sure about the stage, animated, and live action aspects of public domain though, but at the very least you could author a modern written adaptation and be in the clear.

The TV show, "Once Upon A Time" had a pretty good spin on this.

Peter Pan was the bad guy. A dark entity that seduced children into taking his hand and then dragging them to Neverland where they would be trapped for eternity and never grow up.

Sounds horrific but it was presented in a family friendly way.

Children's stories are way darker than they first appear.
