I don’t get this! On eBay Australia, United States, and the uk sites, what I would call scalpers selling a plastic really fake omega. I

The retail price is$380 Australian dollars, whether they are legit bids who knows, these supposed bids are approaching what you could buy a vintage seamaster for, approx 1400 to 1700 Australian dollars.

Why anyone would buy what is clearly a profit driven cheap product wearing a quality brand name.

I would prefer to buy some classic Seiko watches that have been in Space or a bulova.

sometimes the sellers are in for a surprise
as who is bidding might not be in their best interest
part of a bust requires a sell to go through

i had a friend who sold a nissan skyline parts car like 10 years ago
the bids were amazing
after 5 black suvs rolled up she was told it didn't matter how high the under bidders were
to her luck it was a legal sale as it's import wasn't an illegal one

so yeah as much as it can be a buyers beware
sellers sometimes get caught too

They are a swatch.
The hype is driving up the price as they have sold out.

I don't want a plastic omega speedmaster. Just buy a swatch.

Nissan skyline prices are going nuts, I saw that prices in the states are approaching several hundred thousand now.

Even old English fast fords are going crazy, I want a mark 2 ford escort Mexico, can’t afford one.

Agreed it’s just a co branded swatch watch made of plastic.

Would prefer a speed master.

Let's all say it... China. The masters of knock offs. Sell the premium to brand names, then the left overs rebranded. Some people don't even notice, till the thing breaks. Remember the A-pad?? tiny 7" tablet. ahhh those were the days, you learnt quickly.

I don't even think my samsung smart watch is a real samsung, though it does everything it's supposed to. It's just laggy and slow. Haha that could just be samsung though...

It is the artificial scarcity. You can't buy it online and have to go to a few boutiques which makes it hard to get. Watch market is nuts. It is a cool watch and I was interested but not at the inflated prices. Real Speedmasters aren't prohibitively expensive so I see no point in the inflated prices of a plastic co-branded swatch.

Go check out the Rolex Oyster Perpetual in Tiffany blue. Their cheapest stainless sport watch MSRP about $8k. They are selling for $100k now. It is practically impossible to buy a Rolex now outside of the grey market which has inflated prices.

Supply and demand. Not enough supply as of yet (I believe watches sold in swatch stores for only 2 days) and over demand. Same goes for all these watches trading over retail price. Once pieces are more widely available the price will drop significantly, > retail.
