So I wonder now what the casualty estimates are, specifically the ratio of wounded to dead and missing.

That ratio was around 3:1 in the mid-20th century for U.S. forces.

News isn't mentioning much in the way of helicopter evacuation of wounded in the war in Ukraine. The ratio could be higher.

So, if one accepts, say, 15000 Russian dead, that implies something like 40,000 to 50,000 wounded. All told, something like one quarter to one third of their initial invasion force. -That- is a serious hit, and would explain why the Russians have ceased offensive operations for the most part and are now regrouping their forces.

I don't think we should be in syria either, they no longer pose any threat to Israel or U.S. forces in the region and haven't for a long time.

Most of our forces there have already relocated to Jordan, at the invitation of Jordan, and we really only go into syria to destroy offensive weapons deliveries from iran.

As long as syria isn't setting up medium range missles and heavy drones for iran to attack Israel and U.S. forces we shouldn't be involved there anymore at all.

I never said you could get an exact number from the confirmed equipment losses, but generating an estimate from that list is quite easy, and any reasonable estimate based on those confirmed equipment losses put the russian KIA right smack in the range that Ukraine is reporting, and nowhere near russia's absurd claims.

Well, one truism is that the Russians are in heavy retreat from areas they took a few days ago. A most likely truism is that Russia is calling up 200k or so more constructs and general army because of the reduction in their troops.

Why was an F-117 shot down in Serbia?

In short, the NATO forces had a massive failure in operation security, OPSEC, that was feeding valuable data to the enemy. The Serbs knew the strike was coming, knew the general route, and knew the F-117s would be flying without electronic warfare support.

The president that ordered such stupid missions is gone, his wife was thoroughly rejected as a presidential candidate, and we no longer use anything like the 117s as a result of that president's stupidity.
