I think that War has changed, all the fleets and armies, have all been superseded by drones and missiles. Just about anything worth taking is Urban, this turns it all into a guerilla urban war situation. Where every corner has to be taken at a high cost.If the Tanks are brought in then what has the victor been left with except a pile of debris.Going through the motions with mechanized warfare.Is a bit like charging the machine guns with mounted cavalry. Every theatre of war since the end of WW11 has been a waste of time money and lives, except for those making weapons, which are high-priced assets that have to be replaced. The whole point of war is to get a political victory, so you can change the top structure for one either controlled or more to your way of thinking. So all war does is kill a lot of people, and as it progresses firms the resolve of the opponents to kill more.
Then it takes a few generations to forget the reason why they were involved in it in the first place. So it might be just a control mechanism like anything else. The best times financially are during the rebuilding stage after the destructive phase. It used to kill off a good proportion of the young men, but now with women enlisted it will kill potential mothers off as well. The actual average person, in Russia England, and the USA does not want a war because it will achieve nothing so we have to ask who wants war and why.?
