There's a fine line between pissing off the oligarchs, possibly shifting them against Putin and pissing off the average Russian and aligning them with Putin. I fear we're drifting into the latter.

The more the west impacts the average Russian, the easier it is for the Russian government to say the west has been intensifying provocations. And I couldn't really blame them.

Sanctions are supposed to target elites. Anything more is economic warfare, something we have no business waging as it will only escelate.

Keep it towards the admin and oligarchs.

Just as easy to say the opposite. How do you know this won’t turn it against Putin? They know something is up. Even the brainwashed ones. No social media. No Sony, Microsoft, apple, or Samsung. Now no credit cards. It’s more than American companies. Maybe this will push for a civil war for the average Russian. There is no evidence for or against what I said or you said.

These are not 'sanctions'.

That is true, since these are companies making the decisions.

But I still think punishing the average person of Russia adds fodder to the Putin narrative that the west is directly hostile towards Russia. It's hard to argue that narrative when the average person there is going to feel it.

We have to remember that governments make decisions, not the people. I don't want to punish Russian people just like I don't want to be punished for my daft politicians' actions.

If my debit card stopped working this weekend I would be furious and scared as well about supporting my family, Thats why its always good to have bugout food,supplies and extra cash stashed.
