I was curious about neo nazism due recent threads here in ATS, so i started to dig a bit more about this issue. It has been clear that Russia and Putin has been using these far right groups to achieve mess in Ukraine also in other Baltic countries.

Nazism in Russia is not uncommon Borgen Project posted a ( The Borgen Project is an incredible nonprofit organization that is addressing poverty and hunger and working towards ending them.” – The Huffington Post )

The group seemed to organize around widespread unemployment and poverty in the early 1990s. Many of the members are young adults who were hit hardest by the economic downturn. The group operates under the official name of the Russian National Unity, a party founded by Alexander Barkashov in 1990. The party symbol is the swastika and some members receive military training in Moscow.

Borgen Project

Russian National Unity (Russkoe Natsionalnoe Edinstvo—RNE) is the largest militant fascist group in Russia today. The founder and leader of the RNE, Aleksandr P. Barkashov, speaks of himself as a national-socialist, and praises Hitler's deeds for Germany. The RNE has pledged to establish a system of ethnic segregation in Russia were it to come to power

Alexander Barkashov was born in Moscow, Russian SFSR and he left school in 1971 to serve in the Soviet Army in Belarus.

There are a huge amount of Nazis in Russia, so what is going on with Putin´s "desire" of cleaning Ukraine from facism, as it seems to be that most powerful nazis in Ukraine are actually Russians. Is this inside operation ?

The number of Russian nazis

In a country that lost more people defeating the Nazis than any other country, there are now an estimated 50,000 to 70,000 neo-Nazis, half of the world's total. They even have supporters in parliament.

ABC

As the Sochi Winter Olympics approach there is growing concern over the Neo-Nazi movement in Russia. Over half of the world’s Neo-Nazi members are in Russia. This movement is behind the abuse of gays and violation of gay rights. The group also opposes foreigners, Jews, Muslims, Roma, and Asians.

-Borgen project-

So now we know that there are facist groups in Russia.. so let´s dig a bit further

Nazi Exodus: How Russian Nazis ended up in Ukraine

When Crimea incident started 2014 many Russian Nazis took a part of that war, and Azov ( which has been in many topics in here at ATS) was started by Russian neo-nazis

Antifacist Europe

In 2017, the famous Russian neo-Nazi Denis Nikitin arrived in Ukraine. He founded the neo-Nazi clothing brand White Rex, holds mixed martial arts tournaments and presents the Azov Volunteer Regiment to European far-right movements. Right-wing radicals from all over the world took part in Nikitin’s amateur tournaments. At the request of Zaborona, journalist Kateryna Kovalenko learned about Nikitin’s story and tells how the Russian neo-Nazi became a key figure for far-right extremists in the world and in Ukraine.

Denis Nikitin’s real last name is Kapustin. He is 36 years old, and was born and raised in Russia.

The new face of Novorossia was the open Nazi Aleksey Milchakov. Born in Saint Petersburg, he was a fan of Third Reich symbols known for killing, decapitating, frying and eating a puppy in 2011.

***

In 2015, the Azov radio hosted a long discussion with Milchakov and Denis Vikhorev, a neo-Nazi from Kirov who found himself in Ukraine and joined the Nazi organization WotanJugend

Russian nationalist accused of War Crimes

In October of 2016, the Norwegian government stripped Russian citizen Yan Petrovsky of his permanent residence. Petrovksy, a resident in Norway since 2004, is a radical nationalist who was suspected of links with neo-Nazi Viacheslav Datsik. As vice-commander of the “Rusich” task force, Petrovsky fought against Ukrainian troops on the territories of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s republics in 2014-2015. The Ukrainian Prosecutor General and the International Criminal Court (ICC) have been investigating “Rusich” fighters for alleged war crimes committed in Ukraine.

Meduza

Russian nazis are mostly located in Donbass area and Luhansk, these areas are now which are invaded. When you read these stories it is baffeling. It is obvious that Putin´s mind is twisted like a corkscrew... Any thoughts?

Good OP to illustrate why none of this is cut and dried.

A lot of CT folks seem to have decided to die upon the hill called "I believe Putin about Ukraine being a fascist state".

But I gain a strong impression that most have only a surface-level understanding of how much extreme politics churn there has been in the former Soviet lands since the Russian revolution.

I've mentioned a couple of times that I wonder why the KGB was so tolerant of neo-Nazi groups in East Germany when the Soviets called the shots there. That was -not- some oversight in the most heavily surveilled state (at that time) in the world. They knew there were still plenty of fascists there, and they ignored it, or used them as useful idiots.

How many of the people fixated on a few battalions of extremists in Ukraine have ever heard of General Vlasov or wondered why Russian turncoats were among the most brutal troops employed on the Eastern Front by the Germans? Do they even know those guys existed and do they realize those troops are part of a theme in the history of the former Soviet lands?

Yep, Bandera and his followers were extremists and committed crimes against civilians. But for however many thousands of followers he had, that doesn't make ALL Ukrainians and the entire Ukrainian government heirs to Bandera's toxic nationalism. FFS, a quality called PERSPECTIVE has to be employed when assessing new information, and looking at the country as a whole makes clear the extremists are a small minority.

Despite the "tradition" lent by General Vlasov and his people, I also doubt that extreme right wingers are representative of the Russian people. But Putin and crew have certainly employed them to the advantage of the Russian government; another pack of useful idiots.

At some point, one has to look at the ENTIRE scene and be ready to jettison beloved preconceived notions that we've formed thanks to disinformation.

"Deny ignorance" may be a motto here, but it seems many employ it VERY selectively.

Cheers

Russian propaganda has been very tiresome here.. When there is a post of different view on issues than russian propagandae, threads are quickly buried by thread spamming by them.. so expect this one to buried soon. I wonder has any other noticed the same.

So now that Russian has closed internet to outside Russia.. does it mean that those Russians here posting are paid for it ? Food for a thought

Look, when I turn to glance at all the globalist institutions of today and see them all, in unison, condemn Putin whilst simultaneously advocating for Ukraine, can you really blame me for thinking that Putin is the enemy of my enemy?

Your hatred of Russians shines through, have no doubt.
People commenting against what you think doesn't make it Russian spammers.
Perhaps some people just don't think if Russia as an enemy and don't think of Ukraine as a friend.

What about Bin Laden or ISIS, they challenged globalism too.

And let's humor that Putin is trying to build back the USSR, at least in size, maybe not structure... Isn't that kind of expansion similar to globalism? After all, the USSR and the US were in competition to spread their influence.

Personally I think they're not fighting globalism, they are just mad they aren't heading it. If they were fighting it, wouldn't Ukraine be happy? Wouldn't they be welcoming them as liberators? And if they are, why are the fleeing Ukrainians heading west into Europe and not Russia?

It's fine to be against globalism, but being contrarian on this isn't anti globalism, it's picking a different brand, IMO.

Your research really explains a lot. Another case of creating a useful enemy.

This may also explain why Putin started the invasion of Ukraine slowly. He wanted to involve his actual target and not his operatives as much. While he doesn't care about eliminating them as such, they are less useful when eliminated.

The majority of the Russian people do not want this war, Russia is controlled by a small group in the top. Putin and his former KGB friends by his side.

And your point is what exactly? It makes their usefulness as a created enemy more believable.
