Then you probably aren't the kind of person I am talking about. There are/were a few anti-Obama holdovers who acted like he had personally molested them, and it was getting embarrassing, but they've mostly moved on.

Donald Trump single handedly could probably take credit for rebuilding NYC into a world class city. He took some serious development risks when NYC was a basically a third world sh!t hole after the 70s.

Uh, no, that was the Midtown Development Project (Special Midtown District Collection), which was a series of projects radiating out from Times Square and altering it from a fundamental zoning level. Trump was not involved with this.

He's been made into a substitute Satan for the religion of "woke".

Making him appear evil gives them the illusion that their hatred is the "good" kind of hatred.

Notice how they project their hate onto everyone they disagree with?
The opposite of hate should be love but they can't even use that word, they use "compassion".

It's a disguise.
They hide their hatred of group X in a cloak of compassion for group Y.
Hence the constant assertion that everyone is an ist, ism or phobe.
It makes them look like a saviour for whichever group they claim to be saving. They're not saving anyone, they're using them as weapons.

I'm not a Trump fan by any means but have nothing against him. I just think I can see through the tactics being used by making him into the personification of a hate figure that the cult mind can use to unify against.

But, Obama is gone and no longer president. Except for those times when there is a relevant comparison to be made, I no longer really bring him up. I do it now to illustrate my point on Trump.

People who hated Trump seem to not be able to let it go.I

Disturbing and spooky.

Glad you brought up Obama, way too quiet there.

All right this isn't so much a breaking happening now thing as it is a curious phenomena I've noticed. I've noticed all over across all political spectrums, and it is something I cannot explain.

I'll start by saying that I never really liked Obama. OK, let me qualify that ... Obama personally seemed like he could be charming enough, but over the course of his presidency, I agreed with almost nothing he did as a president, and the one thing he could have done positive that might have made a huge difference by presenting an intact black family to a nation full of broken families, he chose not to do in favor of pushing wokeness and racial strife.

But, Obama is gone and no longer president. Except for those times when there is a relevant comparison to be made, I no longer really bring him up. I do it now to illustrate my point on Trump.

People who hated Trump seem to not be able to let it go. It almost seems that no matter what topic we're discussing, they will bring Trump up. And this isn't just leftists. I've observed it in people ostensibly on the right side of the political spectrum too. I understand not really liking Trump personally. He was abrasive. I didn't really like him, but I have a hard time understanding how you can conceive such a deep, visceral loathing of him that you have to turn every conversation into an opportunity to vent that loathing, even now, even when the topic has nothing at all to do with him or anything he really did in his turn in office.

I don't understand it. I may never understand it, but I think perhaps it's time to let it go. I'm not telling you to forget the policies you disliked. I haven't forgotten the policies Obama pushed that have hurt me and others in various ways, but I'm also not losing sleep over it, not hating people who liked Obama because of it, and not venting sheer visceral hatred of Obama into every single thing I do because of it. Obama is done even if the policies of his presidency linger. The same is true of Trump. Let it go. The country and your countrymen will be better when you do.

Maybe i'm wrong..

How Trump Revitalized NYC

Give the man his flowers. He took some significant development risks that helped improve the city.

Trump was the face of NYC in the 80s / 90s. Cameos in Home Alone NY, Trump Tower, Celeb marriages, divorces, etc. Just accept it and put some respect on his name and what he did.

Again, you don't have to like the guy but let's not pretend or down play his accomplishments and results.

Almost all that came well after the Midtown Development Project which began in 1980. The zoning board studied this for years before that and designed a comprehensive decades-long plan that changed NYC.

Among other things...I shudder to think what might happen to the current Russia against Ukraine crisis, if traitorous D.J. Trump were still at the reins as POTUS.

You are assuming there would be a crisis to begin with. For all you know, we are where we *because* we have Biden sitting where the president normally is.

You mean the crisis that never would have happened under Trump? Putin was pulling the same crap during Obama but he went quiet during Trump's term. Now he's fired up again, how is that?

Heck, I will be honest - it's a crisis that probably wouldn't have happened with most any halfway serious leadership of any party, but when you're determined to prove even the village idiot can win ... this is what happens.

You could replace "Trump" with "Biden".

There's ridiculous levels of hate on both sides in your politics.

It's not very nice and it ain't normal.

It is a cult that has been created by the “group” who decides the “agenda” who then tells the very consolidated MSM what to report upon.

It's because the media and establishment went into complete, hysterical overdrive for 4 years, claiming Trump was everything from a Russian installation to a neo-Nazi.

But, he called out issues in the establishment that are supposed to be not mentioned, from media corruption to the weaponization of CIA and FBI. Also, the extractive, rapacious nature of much free trade agreements and corporate/political collusion with foreign powers.

I'm basically anti-establishment due to the decades of demonstrable history, but I'm not a fool that buys the narratives in the media about Trump.

Bingo...can you imagine the Biden, Cheney, Bush, or Obama family (children, grandchildren, great...etc.) being tarnished by Treason, the way the CUOMO family name is now equal to scum, in New York?

Some of these characters are traitors, corrupt, war criminals and murderers, and violators of the Constitution. If it weren't for a complicit media and political class, not to mention corporations, I think more people would be aware.

I mean, it was obvious to a child, that Trump wanted to hold vast
outdoor rallies, to pump up his worshippers, and that by admitting
Covid was a problem, it would interfere with that.

Trump wanted to restrict flights and clowns like you called him racist.

Now that trump has had a taste of political power he will always be relevant. He is a master of marketing and self promotion. He can still muster a group of faithful but will that translate into more political power as the GOP is splintering into factions of moderate Republicans and trump supporters.

I'm anxiously awaiting his social media site. All together now...."lock her up" "lock her up" etc.

thehill.com...

www.cbsnews.com...

Ironic...a thread about trump hatred morphed into a hatred thread of everything "not trump"....trumps power over his followers can't be denied.

With regard to the traitors you cite,
who insider trade themselves into billionaire class, who spied on Trump's campaign,
and presidency, fabricating maligning evidence to this day,
and who unleashed a germ war on the world in order to pummel us into forever submission...
I don't get any of that hate from the media who rain hate against Trump, incessantly.

Funny isn't it? Really strange.

What am I missing here?

There's this rage, that a 'hitler' nearly took us out
as a democracy and may still pull it off.

That's the sort of thing that drives people to the
behavior that's being mentioned in this post.

Now... historical scholars might say that Trump
poked a sleeping bear... that issues resulting
the civil war were never fully resolved and
things of that nature.

It's certainly possile to discusds Trump relatively
calmly and only every so often like this thread
post for the most part.

But yes... survivors guilt and rage certainly
remain.
