So no elderly people can protest, and it's okay if she got trampled because by golly she put herself there?

Glad she is alive, but a dislocated shoulder is NOT 'fine'.

Hurts like h3ll and takes a LONG time to heal.

And the older you are, the longer it takes.

It is all about whose "side" they perceive the various factions to be one. They're playing left/right games in ideological fantasy land. They aren't perceiving the real world implications. All they see is that "they" have power and are stomping on people whose ideas they hate for whatever reason, so they hate those people. It escapes them that they are also powerless and will be stomped on just as ruthlessly as soon as it suits their masters to do so.

My husband hit on it - see the Canadian horse police did not use scary reigns that might look like whips, so it's all good.

Correct, they are without principles and standards. And, it's clear they don't believe inherently in free speech and assembly, as a fundamental right. When they applauded it, they only did so because they agreed with the agenda at the time and such support is part of their strategy. But when it's their opposition, they have no problem using power and suppressing dissent. For the power seekers they may be aware of your last point, in that this is one reason many fight to hold on to power once they have it so it can't be used on them.

But, a lot of rank-and-file appear to have no idea how these currently useful tools leveled against their opposition, can and will be used against them. A good example of this is the Patriot Act and related tools. Many of us warned people it would be abused and turned against citizens. Well, here we are with weaponized federal agencies.

A current example beyond protest is big tech censorship. A lot of progressives are ignoring it, denying it, or applauding it because it's apparently targeting conservatives or covid critics. But, the more we empower a corrupt power alliance of big tech and government to censor dissenters, the more such an aparatus grows and will likely be turned against progressives at some point too. Many people don't know that a few leftist anti-war groups have been censored too on these platforms.

I can't believe how many anti-convoy, pro-police tweets were done by people with rainbow flags. Do they not remember the sit-ins or the stonewall riots. Do you think the lunch counter protestors got a permit?

All of those civil rights protests were VERY annoying to most people and disrupted what they "*consider" to be peaceful lives too.

Most of those people also were ardent supporters of BLM marches, and posted "abolish/defund the police on their Facebook" pages, regarding police brutality.

I don't understand how they can flip so quickly.

Granted, there are some consistent people who are principled. But I've found that most "activists" are not. I recall protesting the second Iraq War, and marching will kinds of people, only to find a lot of them were mysteriously absent when Obama droned wedding parties and funded civil wars in Syria and Libya.

They think *they* have the power now, and they don't think ahead to when they lose it.

What was an old woman with a walker doing in the middle of all that chaos?

With all those police, all in swat gear. All those people, an old woman WITH A WALKER decided it was a good idea to be RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. Hmmmmm?

Maybe because democracy is meant for everyone,You will never understand that though.

Wow by telling some they will never understand something is kinda like they are too dumb to understand freedom.
Whicheans you like to restrict or control freedom.
Seems a little facist to me.

be comforted in the fact they probably wouldn't know what they are missing.

probably happy to get rid of "the bad thing" anyway.

wasn't she in a motorized chair thing?
