Origin is from Nellis AFB. Maybe a test flight of sorts?

My fun take: Someone into DCS got brave and lent a jet.

Add: did it just crash into that mountain range after flying straight for a long time? Altitude says +8000 feet and topography says mountains are lower but it does not move anymore. I guess it shows the last transponder ping?

Add2: The diagrams shows a sharp pickup in speed and lowering in altitude just at that point.

The first Red Flag exercise of this year ended on Friday, 2-11-22.... so I guess it isn't part of that.

Some kind of testing, I suppose. But why a Mirage flying with it?

what ?? the "blocked" plane just disappeared on flightradar over "Golden gate range" going 580 kts at 8000 ft

Did it just nosedive into a mountain, or just turned of its transponder.

The owner of the aircraft requested that they doing allow it’s information to be given out. It’s actually fairly common. You see that quite a bit with prominent people and their private jets, but I’ve also seen commuter aircraft that are blocked, so it can be just about anyone’s aircraft. Really not a huge deal.

Same curiosity here, check out the speed and altitude graph. For me the plane icon is stuck in the mountain range.

Aaand it's gone.

Because it’s one of the Nellis aircraft flying out on the range.

Because it’s being tracked by MLAT or TIS-B, both of which require a set number of ground stations to receive the signal and show the position. There are no receivers over the NTTR, so no position reports are received.

Well Golden gate range is Elevation 2,489 m (8,166 ft).. and the plane was at 8020 ft on my screen when it stopped moving.

Sooo.. strange, perhaps it was on purpose, a drone perhaps, and those mirage was doing target practice. and it crashed into the mountain.

Yes, but with a blocked aircraft. I was just curious if it is typical to use a Mirage as chase plane for something that they don't want someone to know about.

Oh.. I thought the transponder in planes was handled by satellites ?

No. There are multiple ways of tracking. There are some that are tracked by satellite, but they’re still rare.

The F1s are private contractors playing bad guys. Blocked aircraft aren’t anything special. I watched one on FR24 one day, that when I went to ADS-B Exchange, it was a scheduled Horizon Q400.

Thank you for jumping in and answer some questions.

Does private mean normal citizen with proper training/license or ex military now under private company contract?

Curious, because I would not have expected that civilians ever are allowed to fly fighter jets, even without weapons. Although it's just a agile plane then with some extra whistles like radar.

Cool, perhaps they should use both in the future and force planes to have transponder on.. but still have the option to appear anonymous to the public, that way we would not have any missing planes in the future

And what the heck it up with the numbers in your profile.. 46 million stars ?
And why do you know so much about aviation ?

In this case the pilots are former military pilots, flying aircraft owned by a private company. Out of Nellis it’s Draken. You also have ATAC, and Top Aces. All of them are privately contracted by the military to fly as Aggressors during exercises as well as daily training flights. They use them instead of military aircraft because it reduces wear and tear on the military aircraft.

All aircraft, except military or specialized aircraft on waivers are required to broadcast ADS-B, of which MLAT and TIS-B are part of, when flying in public airspace. Military aircraft are exempt for mission requirements, but all equipped aircraft usually broadcast when flying outside of MOAs or active mission areas.

It’s a stars glitch from years ago.

I literally grew up on a flightline and have spent my entire life around aircraft in one way or another.
