now i think its sick to desecrate ANY statue or memorial that was put up by people, its a part of our history thats what its there for is to remind us of how # we are, and how good we can be, not to forget. These people put signs up on Terry Fox (goddamned hero in my books), i dont think there was any ill will meant, it is what it is. BUT THAT STATUE WILL STAY! But, i guess only some people to get say what statues are right or wrong to use for politcal reasons is my point.

Never seen a statue yet that was actually worthy of erection.

Gratification serves no real purpose.

When I saw that, my heart sank for a moment.
I never been to Ottawa. I had no idea they had a Terry monument.
Im in Thunder Bay, and we have the Terry Fox Monument, to mark the end of his journey.

When I saw that image, for a brief second there, I thought someone stole T.F lol.

Years back some degenerate sawed the hands off him. So a straight up kidnapping, is 100% possible.
lol THANK GOD, Mr. Fox is still over looking Lake Superior.

Get used to it. Every statue is an old, dead white dude and deserves to be toppled these days.

I'm looking forward to the day when monuments to dead criminals of all types get desecrated and toppled.

this part of that is really sad as well.

shameful as there are now thousands without access to cancer treatments as our hospitals care for the unvaccinated.-Andrew Baback Boozary MD

It's like just repeating the lie makes it OK. It's not OK. Oklahoma is OK. The hospitals have both vaxxed and unvaxxed in them, as well as people who have nothing to do with covid. If you have to lie to make a point, your point sucks as do you.

They need to just admit that firing all the staff who refused to get vaxxed was a mistake, shutting down everything except the potential COVID wards to make way for a flood of critical patients necessitating layoffs was a mistake ...

They are overwhelmed not because they have too many patients but because they laid off and/or fired all their staff and now none of them want to come back to work.

yes, and admitting that should happen just after they admit this was all a power move and had very little to do with the actual virus. I won't be holding my breath.

Someone posted on Twitter pointing out the hypocrisy of applauding the BLM riots endlessly, during a pandemic, then many of the same condemning one week of trucker protests (without riots so far). Similarly, it's woke AF when BLM and Antifa tear down historic statues in the US, but it's terrorism when anyone else does the same in Canada. Getting it yet? The TV didn't tell them to support it, therefore they do not.

The Statue of Venus gets my motor running. Perhaps if the protesters had chosen better art work it would have had more impact.

Completely agree.

Terry Fox is a hero.

One of my greatest memories was standing along the highway as he went by the very same spot I recorded my Freedom Convoy video.

I don't support desecrating ANY statues, but Terry? That's messed..

Again, Terry Fox was an example to humanity.

I DO support the protests though, obviously.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the work of agent provocateurs. This protest is too large for the media to ignore, so their best bet is to try to cast it in a negative light.

I saw an AP news story this morning saying something about trucks with confederate and nazi flags. Nothing about the numbers of trucks, number of protestors, what the protestors want, or anything of any real substance. Just an attempt to make it sound like a bunch of racists ready to start trouble.

Screw Global™ and their pro-narrative spins.

Terry Fox is a hero of the people, and not the Elitists™.

They're desperate to put any king of negative spin possible against the Freedom-Truckers.

Terry Fox may well have been standing alongside the protestors, and surely wouldn't mind helping to hold a sign or two.

" Desecration " is what they do to us, and his legacy.

Right, they've lost all sense of critical thinking. In a trance as Alex Jones used to say.

It doesn't take more than a few minutes of light critical thinking and comparing situations to be principled and somewhat consistent.

For example, someone could say "well I don't agree with these truckers' viewpoint, but like BLM I support their right to protest and pull down statues."

Same thing with "conspiracy theories." For 4 years the left was claiming there was widespread Russian Collusion and hacking of the election, that in fact the 2016 election wasn't legitimate. They also said the right and government were infused with "fascism" and racism. They also claimed a dictatorship was at hand under Trump.

Fast forward to 2021, and suddenly any claims of election issues or that the establishment can't be trusted are "right wing conspiracy theories only pushed by fringe groups." It's so blatantly a double standard I don't understand how any intellectually honest person can not see the double standard?

Again, someone could decide they believe in theory 1 (Russian collusion) and not theory 2 (2020 election rigging), yet recognize that both sides are putting forth serious allegations and that alone isn't cause for dismissal. It just comes down to the merits.

If someone can't meet this basic level of consistency and principled discussion, there's a problem. My worry is it seems only a minority of people are even attempting to be principled these days. As others have pointed out though, is it that this is a new development, or is it simply that social media has given so many people a platform that it's unveiling the way most people have always been? Maybe it's always been true that only a minority of people sought truth, attempted to be principled and consistent, etc.

Right, it was so stupid. I'm getting tired of accepting "mistakes" that even non-medical professionals or experts saw coming from a mile away. Just like so many policies by Fauci et al, from lockdowns to mask mandates. So many issues people called ahead of time. Incompetence only explains things so far, sadly.
