In Japan we can have guns, but not like America . In my area farmers have guns to shot wild pigs and bears. It is not uncommon to see a farmer with a gun in his truck . Although guns are mostly unavaible here for us , the farmers can have them.

Growing up in the Midwest you learn the importance of owning a few guns. You learn how to properly maintain and use said guns as well. If youre lucky you also learn how to pack your own ammunition and you learn how to hunt. Then from all that you understand what a gun is truly capable of and how it shouldn't ever be misused. And that's all before acknowledging the need for guns for safety as well. And that's before looking to the 2nd amendment and the need for a well armed citizenry. So yeah in America there are several acceptable reasons to own guns and most who own guns do so because of those acceptable reasons.

I have several guns for farm animals, hunting and prospecting.

They can also be used for protection if needed, but our authorities frown upon that. Jurors don't, though.

That's all I can say as a Canadian....

To protect me and my family? Yes ... and quite a few.

The real trick is training your family members and ensuring that they too are adequately armed. Who can you better trust when the chips are down? How can they help if the one firearm is in your hand alone?

I use mine to open beers and turn the TV off.

No. It's illegal in my country to have a gun for self defense.

Sounds more honest than the stoopid boating accident story you hear so often.

Same to similar routine here in the UK.

Farmers/game wardens use them for pest control purpose.

The rule of law is supposed to protect you and your family.

Cant see much point in having those if you also require military grade hardware to get through the day and night.

If you are male and have been in the military service, chances are high you have an equivalent to the AR 16 with ammunition at home. You'll get into big troubles if you use it to defend yourself, as this is a strategy by the military to have citizens armed and ready on short notice, if your ammunition cartridge is found open you'll have to answer many questions.

Apart from that, it's very hard to legally own a gun if not for sports.

Never mind the huge amount of suicides committed with these military guns, great way of population control

Yes, everyone in my family is encouraged to pursue firearms training. My youngest granddaughter is hell on wheels with a Henry lever gun. The wife and I each carry every day. It’s just who we are.

LOL, yeah, surprisingly, there are apparently a lot of people with guns, that don't know how to drive a boat. Or should I say, "had" guns.

But yeah, mine was sarcasm. or was it?

Sure....
how many criminals you know that follow the "rule of law"
That post did not even make sense with me straining my imagination to the limit .

Makes sense in a nation that don't wish nor require military grade hardware to feel safe and make it through the day Gothmog.

Most criminals here don't have access to firearms in the same to similar manner they do in your own nation where there are more guns than people.

Your second amendment is what does not make sense in the world of today.

Not that you will agree all the same.

The colour of the day equates to different strokes for different folks, simple as that really.

I guess one (you , not me) could still call it "protection by the rule of law" post mortem .
With that , I am outta here.
Before I start my "Denying Ignorance" spiel .

BYW , a group of farmers fought and won against the greatest army of their time to get out from under that type of oppressive rule .

Well you have yourself a lovely day.

And we can do the same without guns all over the shop or mass school shootings in the post every other week.

That way Its all good both sides of the pond.

You feel safe, we feel safe, problem alleviated.

By the way, props on beating a monarchy, shame you could not also beat the bankers.
