Borris is in trouble so now he has started to change a few policies to appease the seething masses , so probably as part of the fabled operation "Big Dog" to save his job Priti Patel has announced that the Royal Navy will be put in charge of policing the channel and a Rear Admiral has been put in charge.... But.

But true to form for Johnson's government it's not what it seems , the Navy will be in charge of the operation but the Navy won't be out in the water , they will oversee and co-ordinate the current operations shared between Border Force and coastguard taxi services.

The home secretary confirmed on Monday she has asked the Ministry of Defence to put the navy in charge of policing small boats crossing from France to the UK.

Defence sources have told Sky News that the PM has asked the armed forces to take command of Channel security.
Rear Admiral Utley has been appointed to co-ordinate the move and be in command of government assets, which is understood to focus on data sharing and exploitation.

It is thought the Navy will be a largely unseen presence, with Border Force still the public face of operations.

"No one department can solve this issue in the Channel on their own," Ms Patel told the Commons.

"My decision to bring the MoD in is vindication that we need to absolutely strengthen our defences in the Channel."

Any body or organisation can be put in charge of something, but it needs to be adequately financed to stand any real chance of being fit for purpose. Put the Girl Scouts in charge of policing the channel if you like, but give them the resources, which will have to be cut from somewhere else, if the strategy is to have a real chance of success.

They can have billions it wont make the slightest difference. It aint money that will cure it.
Just one simple question :- just what is the navy going to do? Or better still what can they do.
They can't stop them , they can't run them down, so what?
The only way is to actively be on the French coast to stop them. The French wont allow that because they want rid of them and the place they want to go is here. One of the questions that need answering is where are they getting all the inflatables from. No inflatable, no crossing.

It's not just a question of resources. Word in the corridors of power is that the Royal Navy had already been asked and said no. They want nothing to do with it.

More bull from Priti Awful.I was reading earlier that she will replace care home workers sacked due to refusing the gene therapy with asylum seekers. They don't need a visa due to already being in the UK.
No background checks either no doubt due to having their word for who they are after burning their documents.
Fighting age men are 90% of asylum seekers, coming from countries where women are second class citizens.
Care home work will not appeal to their manhood.
Murderers,thiefs,rapists etc,no bother to the Tories-all welcome.
What did we expect with an immigrant running the Home Office except her bringing in her own kind and having no problem with them 'caring' for our elderly and most vunerable.

I can't stand the woman but she is a British born citizen, her parents are immigrants.

The rest is just racist bs asylum seekers in job roles that require background checks? You must notice the amount of UK members who who know close relatives or work in a care providing role right?

What a sad and shameful read.

It is on the French to fix this, it's a mess but once those barely sea worthy dinghy's hit the channel it's essentially a humanitarian mission and the responsibility of the first party on scene.

I have little faith in the French considering the way they've acted in the channel whether it be piss poor humanitarian relief or blocking Jersey ports.

This isn't a job for the Navy... Tories eh?
