I knew this was going to be an awesome thread!
I especially love the maned wolf, bush viper and poodle moth. The monkey is cute too.
Some of those underwater creatures are the stuff of nightmares.

Thank you so much for introducing me to some strange and beautiful species!

Enjoy some of the bizarre animals to be found in our world.

The maned wolf is a large canine of South America. Its markings resemble those of foxes, but it is neither a fox nor a wolf. It is the only species in the genus Chrysocyon (meaning "golden dog"). The maned wolf is a solitary animal. It communicates primarily by scent marking, but also gives a loud call known as "roar-barking".

The glass frogs are frogs of the amphibian family Centrolenidae (order Anura). While the general background coloration of most glass frogs is primarily lime green, the abdominal skin of some members of this family is transparent and translucent. The internal viscera, including the heart, liver, and gastrointestinal tract, are visible through the skin, hence the common name is given as glass frog. Glass frogs are arboreal, meaning they mainly live in trees, and only come out for mating season.

A spitting cobra is any of several species of cobras that can defensively project venom from their fangs into the eyes of an attacker. The spat venom is generally harmless on intact mammalian skin (although contact can result in delayed blistering of the area), but can cause permanent blindness if introduced to the eye; if left untreated it may cause chemosis and corneal swelling.

Actually we have had several dogs mess with a spitting Cobra and get half their face ate off by the venom and or lose their eyesight .. Not a snake to mess with IMO.

Wonderful and I will not be moved from my view that all this life is the result of intoxicants, time and genetic know-how by bored cosmic artists.

But just a friendly reminder that all this exotic diversity of color, form and vibrant life can be utterly erased in moments by some limited, scared, hubris entranced troglodyte using technologies bought from genius via funds stolen from the oppressed populace.

Carry on.

Indeed. I used to watch all these nature shows on TV, and now I realize just how small the portion of species was that they were showing us. I even had a collection of hundreds of animal cards as a kid. A pic on one side, description on the back. Thought it was basically everything lol

"I was able to find how it is called in English, Latin, but NOT in Russian language...⁣⁣⠀
The specialist from PINRO was very surprised when he saw this fish for his very first time, but, anyway, he was able to tell me what kind of fish it is...⁣⁣⠀ He also, mentioned that, that type of fish is very uncommon to find here, that is why this fish has no particular name in Russian language...⁣⁣⠀ Here we are!⁣⁣⠀
Jaggedhead gurnard (Gargariscus, Armored searobins or armored gurnards)⁣⁣⠀ Sounds like knight!⁣⁣
You can find him in Eastern part of Indian ocean, as well as, in Western part of Pacific ocean. This is a deep ocean fish, he lives up to 300 m down in a deep. His length is up to 30 cm long. It is the only known member of its genus.⁣⁣⠀
This is all the information you can find in the Internet about Jaggedhead gurnard, not more...⁣⁣"
