WestJet has cancelled almost 15% of its scheduled flights in January as the Canadian carrier is faced with staffing shortages due to the Omicron variant.

Yeah, it's a lot of nonsense. We have had it pretty brutal with the lockdown measures and now it's making less sense than ever with the travel ban. A pandemic of the unvaccinated yet once again the vaccinated are the ones who brought it into our country. (So at least there's some sort of logic in shutting down the flights BUT the logic DIES because they're clearly headstrong for vaccinations still. That's where that logic actually doesn't exist at all) if they were abandoning vaccine posturing that would be one thing but they're double long down. We have Canadian news agencies putting polls out on whether or not we should have forced mandates, and we have Trudeau (the man who sounds absolutely insincere the moment he starts talking) question whether or not we should "tolerate these people" (talking about unvaxd and blindly declareing most to often be racist, misogynysts)

It's wild I can't travel within my own country its insane. There was a medical facility I was planning on going to in B.C and I'm unable to go now. It's absolutely wild.

the obvious question is, is this like when all the airlines slashed and canceled flights at the beginning of the pandemic due to "COVID-19 & 'Restrictive' Travel Measures", and a "lack of passengers", which STRANDED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, all over the world, and far from home? with many of those spending MONTHS trying to get home. not to mention their predatory jacking up of airfare over three times the price. as well as refusing to refund money people paid for their canceled flights, only giving them "vouchers", only good for their airline, and only good for a year (a year in which no one could go anywhere because of the pandemic). on top of severely overbooking flights, to the point of people checking in before they left where they were staying, arriving at the airport several hours before their flight, only to be told that they can't go, because there were no seats, due to it being oversold. while at the same time as all of this, crying for government help, because they were loosing money, "because of having to cancel so many flights because of not enough passengers".

seriously i know several people that spent over six months just trying to get home, stranded halfway around the world. and of course not being paid, because they couldn't work, while trying pay their accommodations, and extras like food. as well as immigration fees for visas, because they couldn't leave the country to go home, because they couldn't get a flight home.
