FULL TITLE: Seattle police improperly faked radio chatter about Proud Boys as CHOP formed in 2020, investigation finds

At a crucial moment during 2020’s racial justice protests, Seattle police exchanged a detailed series of fake radio transmissions about a nonexistent group of menacing right-wing extremists.

The radio chatter about members of the Proud Boys marching around downtown Seattle, some possibly carrying guns, and then heading to confront protesters on Capitol Hill was an improper “ruse,” or dishonest ploy, that exacerbated a volatile situation, according to findings released Wednesday by the city’s Office of Police Accountability.

The officers who participated described a group gathering by City Hall and moving around downtown. They delivered reports such as, “It looks like a few of them might be open carrying,” and: “Hearing from the Proud Boys group. … They may be looking for somewhere else for confrontation.”

The Proud Boys ruse was deployed at an incredibly tense moment. The murder of George Floyd had sparked more than a week of large-scale protests in Seattle, with the police barricading streets around the East Precinct and deploying tear gas. Later in June, two fatal shootings occurred in the CHOP zone.

I don't find this difficult to believe, and I'm not surprised that an investigation uncovered it. I suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg with regards to aspects of the government stirring things up to serve their twisted agendas.

But it appears unlikely that anyone will lose their jobs or pay over the incident. The two employees who ordered and supervised the misinformation effort and who Myerberg sustained allegations of policy violations against have already left the department, according to the case summary.

Myerberg didn’t sustain allegations of policy violations against four officers identified as having taken part in the Proud Boys chatter. The officers used poor judgment, but their supervisors were mostly to blame for failing to provide adequate supervision, Myerberg determined.

So, back to business as usual.
SMH...and they wonder why we don't trust them.

A far, far more egregious offense by the police is letting the goons set up CHOP without going in and cracking heads to take that part of the city back.

FWIW - I have the COMPLETE opposite opinion of OathKeepers. I have known quite a few for decades, and some for my entire life.

Police Officer, Police Chief, EMT, Fire Chief, School Principal, Minister, Welder, Truck Driver, and several more that didn't need to work after military retirement.

The only people these guys would ever threaten is someone in the process of beating up an old lady or kidnapping a child.

I blame the Mayor's office, Islee's promise to allow this crap, and Sawant for creating this mess. The fact that Best was removed by coercion because she didn't want to play along says a lot. Also telling is the fact that the Police Union in Seattle went on the attack against Best after she started allowing Officers to defend themselves during the riots.

The local Media is also to blame, but even with that Socialist Alternative is pushing that button.

Prior to the last few years I'd have said the McCarthy American Commie scare... but it would seem McCarthy was just a half century ahead of the times and probably not that far off from the truth.

Given what FDR was able to get away with after the Business Plot incident, I would say that McCarthy might have just been reading the tea leaves on this. Hell, even George Washington thought that the "Democratic Party" might be the death nail in this newly formed nation.

I don't blame the Democratic Voters since they are just enablers, I blame the exploiting politicians that are allowed to go unquestioned. That's the issue I see. Trotskyism might be the chosen political philosophy they are currently using, but then again I keep getting told that Stalin killed all of them.

n March 1950, McCarthy had initiated a series of investigations into potential infiltration of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) by communist agents and came up with a list of security risks that matched one previously compiled by the Agency itself. At the request of CIA director Allen Dulles, President Eisenhower demanded that McCarthy discontinue issuing subpoenas against the CIA. Documents made public in 2004 revealed that the CIA, under Dulles' orders, had broken into McCarthy's Senate office and fed disinformation to him in order to discredit him and stop his investigation from proceeding any further.

So just to be clear the CIA was involved with discrediting McCarthy rather then helping clean up it's ranks. Hum, just like how the Seattle Police Union turned on Best instead of backing her Officers.

The 1954 Communist Control Act was never overturned by Congress... It would be *interesting* if the Red Wave manifests itself in November for the House to go ahead and fire up the House Un-American Activities Committee again and start prosecuting the self avowed socialists and commies in the US, particularly those serving in elected offices. I assume there'd be some outcry over that, but talk about a single flash point that would start righting the ship in this country immediately, that would do it.

Interesting idea.

If we ever want to immediately start a civil war that not many democrats would survive after day 1 of combat.

Sounds like a great way to kick things off if that day ever comes.

Definitely more classy and humanitarian than my own ideas for the kickoff party.

But I still hope for a better path.
