Doublespeak

The term doublespeak is familiar with most people, but it really doesn't get the attention it needs.  This is somewhat surprising, given the long history of its use.  In ancient times, the practice of doublespeak was, more correctly, termed locutions:
a particular form of expression or a peculiarity of phrasing.
The phrase "We will never lie" comes to mind.
Still, much of the doublespeak passes by without notice.  So, let's look at an example given by Anthony Fauci, who recently said:

“When you get vaccinated, you not only protect your own health and that of the family but also you contribute to the community health by preventing the spread of the virus throughout the community. In other words, you become a dead end to the virus. And when there are a lot of dead ends around, the virus is not going to go anywhere. And that’s when you get a point that you have a markedly diminished rate of infection in the community.”

In this example, we'll look at four words: community, virus, health and infection.  Words have multiple meanings (senses), so we'll center on specifics for brevity.

Community : a body of persons of common and especially professional interests scattered through a larger society.  Society.
Health : the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit.  Wellbeing.
Virus : a disease or illness caused by a virus; From Latin vīrus: The seed or nature in animals.
Infection : the state produced by the establishment m of one or more pathogenic agents, such as viruses.

Now, we can use word replacements and reread Fauci's statement.
For community, we can use "second society" for one usage, and just "society" for the other.
For health, we'll use "ease your fears over covid", because Fauci's statement is about covid, and also use "wellbeing" for the second usage.
For virus, we'll use "seed of man".
For infection, we get the "state produced by seed of man", so "births/babies" will do.

Now, let's translate Fauci:
“When you get vaccinated, you not only 'ease your fears over covid' and the 'fears of the family' but also you contribute to the 'wellbeing  of the second society' by preventing the spread of the 'seed of man' throughout the 'second society'. In other words, you become a dead end to the 'seed of man (your bloodlines)'. And when there are a lot of dead ends around, the 'seed of man' is not going to go anywhere. And that’s when you get a point that you have a markedly diminished rate of 'babies in society (depopulation)'.”

Maybe, this is why they claim the vaccines to be 95% effective?

Double speak is used a lot by the media, mainstream and social. It is used to deceive and to manipulate.

It becomes less necessary everyday. There just aren't enough people left that have not complied.

We have been warned. Their patience has waned. The gloves are about to come off.

The need for double speak and lies are coming to an end. Those that chose to not comply will be treated like the dangerous terrorist they are.

Wait.....

If English is my second language, does that mean I get a get out of jail free card?

How about a house? Money?

He is describing how a parasite has nowhere to go if there is not a host to infect.

Orwell coined the phrase it seems, and we have it in spades today. You offer a very good example.

My favorite from Orwell is "In a time of universal deception, speaking the truth is a radical act."

Would you feel, deep down, if you were wrong-disappointed?
