And this is why many drugs will remain illegal. Corruption and money. This guy gets 12 years, but you can still get even larger jail time just for possessing weed.

Are any of us surprised, this has been going on for years, back into the 60s, 70s and 80s... Air America, Contra, the CIA drug running through Maracaibo (even up to 2007/8), the triads and golden triangle, the Syrian mule flights through england even in 1988, etc. The government IS organized crime, it's just public sector operating under the colour of law they make up as they go along to protect themselves.
