Hey DB,

I thought about that jibe today. It is an amusing poke.

But one wonders. That notion assumes "the Others" have got it all wrapped up. But what if they don't? What if whatever kind of 'travel' those devices[?] represent isn't as straightforward as walking from one point to the next. Perhaps entering a portal in space-time or crossing into another dimensional realm is hazardous no matter what kind of technology is involved.

Is that kind of wondering full of assumptions?

Why, yes, it is.

But I would also point out, the jibe of "why do they crash so much" is equally full of assumptions.

Cheers

And then there is the possibility that these craft are so common in our skies and solar system that crashes are about as common for them as airline crashes are for us.

Just guessing, who really knows.

I think they need to recalibrate the altimeters of the ships in the rest of the fleet.

Very curious image, I'm still sitting on the toilet thinking about this one.

A meteor would probably just have skipped off the surface, like a pebble over a lake. Or, it would have disintegrated/exploded on first impact.

From the TomCollin's bigger picture I'm more inclined to go for some form of alien terraforming... it looks more like an abandoned mining exercise.

I think your final sentence is a key observation.

There are a lot of reports of unusual phenomena. Bottom line is that we really know little about many of them. That really get amplified when one assumes that UFOs represent some kind of intelligent activity. Assuming who might be piloting or launching them is pure blue-skying.

Or. . . . . .

It's just a drone, not "manned" at all.

Agree.

Although, as wokery-cadets, we probably shouldn't refer to crewed craft as "manned".

Velllly interesting.

Damnit Jim, I can’t get the YT video to link.

Here's the video. You were just missing a bit at the end.

As seen in the video, from afar the perspective is different and the whole area is covered in what looks like gouged trenches or heavily eroded landscape.

Also, the narrator conveniently hides with his own head, and doesn't talk about what would be the starting/first contact point of the trench. From the images, it looks like a pretty steep drop, as opposed to a more gentle gradient which an object would make on an almost parallel approach to the ground.

Maybe they didn't change their Neutrino oil every 800 light years.

Or...
OR.....
These two were the pilots.

Here's a crop of the 658 MB JP2 image, taken at 80% zoom.

As it shows more than the video we can see that:
- the "track" is not completely straight, it makes a slight "S" shape;
- it starts on a raised feature;
- it appears to continue just on the surface to the left of the "UFO".

An anaglyph (for those with those red/cyan glasses) shows that it's really a deep "cut" in the ground and that it's not smooth, as more or less in the middle we can see a slight deviation of the ditch's walls.

PS: I strongly recommend having a pair of those 3D glasses, these images give us a completely different view of Mars.

One thing I only noticed on the anaglyph was that the "ditch" cuts the small hill just below "south" of it.

Edit: also this looks like a hill.
curtiousy of OneBigMonkeyToo.

Edit: clean shot you posted. Thanks by the way.

Could it be like a small canyon where the edges may have collapsed inward and down along the track line? The rock would be irrelevant, just happened to be there as the dirt collapsed around it.

I can clearly see more to that linear track passed the rock off to the left frame.

Looks as if the wind dunes went one direction then changed.

Here is what I'm trying to say. I placed lines on what I think is natural erosion by perhaps water.

Then the wind placed the sand laying in another direction.

Those dunes are perpendicular to the direction of the wind that created them, so the wind was in direction of the red lines on your erosion image.

In this height map you can get an idea of relative height of the area (click for full size).

I marked the area being discussed with a black rectangle.
