Aden was not in a very good mood as he made his way through the narrow street towards the market. Finding himself in his mid-twenties and without a
wife, Aden’s life was not working out the way he had planned it for so many years. Lugging a heavy basket of bread was not helping his demeanor
either. The girls in town seemed to consider him at least moderately good looking, it’s just that none of them wanted a husband whose prospects only
included baking bread.
Stopping for a minute, Aden felt the sun on his back as it just rose above the buildings. The warmth was welcome on this cold winter day. Aden
adjusted his basket and trudged on through the deep layer of snow resting on the cobblestones. He wanted to get to the market early and set up before
the morning rush.
Aden thought he was all alone on the street this cold morning, until just up ahead he saw three very well-dressed men emerge from a stable and walk
up the street and out of sight. Thinking nothing of it, he walked past the stable until he heard what sounded like quite voices and soft laughter.
Stopping, he stepped back and looked inside the small doorway. He saw a man and a woman sitting on the ground; the woman appeared to be holding a
child, they were both smiling. There was a light shining around them from somewhere that Aden could not discern. It was just a simple moment, but
somehow Aden found himself frozen in place, unable to continue. Then the woman raised her head and smiled at him, and he felt a sense of peace and
warmth he had never felt before. After a moment or two, the woman looked back down at the child and Aden turned and continued on his way.
That feeling stayed with Aden for years to come. Not long after, he met the girl of his dreams, got married and had three children of his own. Aden
never forgot the look of purest love in the woman’s eyes and how it made him feel; how it changed his life.
Aden never knew that what he had witnessed, that one moment in time, would forever change the world. He just knew it had changed him.
The end.
