Armed guards. Fire if confronted or observing theft.

No major retailer is going to do that for liability reasons. It's cheaper to write off the goods then go through a lengthy legal trial.

I think more stores will be going exclusively online. Others will make you get an appointment to shop. The rest will continue to see loss.

Getting an appointment to shop still won't stop the smash and grab theft. I'm in the process of opening a retail store and am seriously looking at a product called riot glass. They have several levels ranging from stopping entry for a few minutes to virtually being break-in proof (bats, crowbars, bricks, cinderblocks, etc.) except for something like a vehicle. They range from $3 to $10k, but depending on the volume and amount of inventory stocked, not outrageous in price.

Just keep watching. Several stores in this area have already stated publicly that they will have armed guards protecting their stores.

My question is why stop it?

America stole the Indians land but it's not theirs anymore because we made businessess & profits off it. As long as these 'looters' make money & a business of these 'stolen' products than the future earnings will legally be theirs, so it's well worth it & the most American you can get. Unless of course you think your still sitting on Indian soil & you yourself is a thief & you should be imprisoned too. Last I checked this is American soil no matter who it was stolen from because there is a business part of thievery to make it completely legal.

Law enforcement must have their hands untied to do their jobs!

If this situation carries on then insurance premiums for businesses will be so high that they wont be able to operate

This will be more prevelant in democrat run states who seem to have the most crime.

The offshoot being that businesses will move to areas with less crime and lower operating costs making those areas more prosperous and the crime riddled areas even worse.

The dems are the dictionary definition of stupid

How about a bouncer at the door checking and scanning photo ID's? That would bed fairly low cost

They'd shoot the Bouncer or hit him with something. The one Home Depot that got mobbed said that the first thing they did was to grab hammers or crowbars and threatened to use them on the employees.

Armed guards are NOT the answer. When the Local Government is on the side of the thieves (yes they are) who backs up the guard if he has to shoot somebody. I've had that job. There's not enough money for me to take it these days. The man killed in San Francisco was armed.

I'd start by throwing out any Prosecutor that took money from Soros or any other group. Then vote out any politicians who support this crap.

haha right, theivery makes the world go round. It it weren't for theives we would just be lawless beasts in the wilderness without such things like economy like every other animal. Theivery is the only form of business that exists. We all just buy, work for & sell something thats been stolen.

Hence the phrase "Might makes right." The rule of Law is a fairly new concept when you look at things.

The one that always gets me is the Hispanics from Latin America trying to claim the Southwest areas of the US. Their argument is that it was stolen from them. They conveniently forget that their ancestors stole it themselves.

I think we are getting off on a wild tangent here folks. Organized Retail Crime is the subject. Dealing with it is the part of the subject I am addressing. Theory of economies and theft implied in ownership of the underlying land is a noncomponent of this issue.

You're assuming this is an issue that the people who created wish to see solved.

Here's a conspiracy theory:

Go light on property crime in certain areas. Encourage it, even.

In the face of rampant retail theft and property damage, businesses close down and move out of the area. Any law-abiding persons residing in the area who are able to move will do so.

Property values plummet.

The people who created the problem buy up the property cheap. Then they throw out the undesirables and restore law and order. They rebuild the area and, Presto, huge profits.

It may take a few years, but pay close attention to real estate values while this is happening. See who buys the land.
In my opinion, this is exactly what is happening.

Spot on,VictorVonDoom.

All the way back to the Cro Magnons stealing from the Neanderthals & the Neanderthals stealing from the monkeys. History seems to state that if you aren't the best theif you will go extinct.

Yeah, power is law. Yesterdays villian is tomarrows hero.

Yeah I guess America technically stole this soil from the British, the British stole it from the Indians. It's hard to keeop track of theivery cause every part of economics is stealing.

Isn't crypto currency a form of theivery? It is made up money that is stolen from hard working citizens who use made up fake stolen money in the form of coins or bills.

If any of these 'looters' get rich from what they 'stole' in 50 years, they will be praised & thanked because the currency of the stolen goods isn't illegal, only the act of 'stealing' & selling the 'stolen' item is, or whites would owe blacks & indians quadrillions of dollars.

In order to find the solution to a problem you must first find the find the foundation for why an existing problem began. That is what we are doing. You can't skip steps because of feelings & opinions. That's insanity, a circle of a bunch of arguing where noone is right.

How about just put in some armed security and shoot looters? It would end pretty fast.

yeah and shoot them in the hand so they can't carry much. be careful you don't miss and shoot them in the face by accident.

I was in the city a few times in the last couple weeks. We stopped a a few "party store" we call them here... Akin to 7-11 I guess... I did notice today, granted, these are smaller corner stores, all entrance doors opened in... not pull... all the alcohol was on the far back wall...

I just noticed it today, and assumed to hinder a snatch and grab... have to run through the store and pull the door open...hard to do with an arm full of beer.

The way I look at it is the "Powers that be" turn a blind eye to theft under 950USD
How about a simple fix where any price in a store gets an additional $1000 added to the price till you get to the cash and "flash" your loyalty card for the "honest person discount" ex pack of pack of gum =$ 1001.75 till you pay

Now prosecution can happen!

Or do like Brandon says "just shoot them in the legs".
