It will come down to motive.

Fields was attending a political protest that was using violence before the counter-protesters even arrived and then targeted those who had different political beliefs.

There was a very easy case to make that Fields' crime and choice of victims were politically motivated.

If it turns out that Brooks targeted these people as a result of the Rittenhouse case, then I think terrorism charges could apply. Once again though, that comes down to Wisconsin law. There are no federal statutes pertaining to domestic terrorism. If Wisconsin does not have a domestic terror law on the books then Brooks cannot be charged with it.

The circumstances surrounding Charlottesville were also known almost immediately.

Fields had been attending a white supremacist rally and targeted counter-protesters with his car.

Brooks' actions leading up to the tragedy are completely unknown at this time.

I was thinking about this.

The charge could stick I think if the original crime was a hate crime or he confessed to a motive that fall under hate crime law.

If he was fleeing the scene of another crime, he still made a conscious decision to run over the people marching in the parade. If the story about him doing Internet searches about or describing on social media how to run over people and get away with it are true, that could be problematic for his defense in a trial... If any charges are brought.

When i first saw the video i thought it looked the dude was fleeing for sure. At first it looks like he tries to avoid the people and then just says screw it and plows the left side over. If it wanted to hurt as many as possible he would have never made that left turn to the left side of the road. He would have just plowed through the middle like anyone who plays Grand Theft Auto knows.

Still no excuses for doing that and he should get the death penalty but if youre being honest, it does look kinda like a getta away.

What I just now heard on FoxNews is that Police had been called about a fight at a nearby park. When they got to the park, they didn't see a fight. All they saw was the red SUV speeding away from the area. and that was shortly before the parade....


So he may have been fleeing from the cops, but why? They didn't actually mention a crime.
