Is there life out there?
Pretty sure there is.
Why haven't they contacted us?
Pretty sure humans just aren't that interesting of a lifeform.
Yes. We are just not all that. Probably not on their bucket list.

The humans may not be but I bet any planet capable of harboring life is or at the very least the resources are

300 million potentially habital planet in our galaxy alone...100 billion galaxies in the universe.
Any alien life form with sufficient intelligence would be intelligent enough to ignore this rock of homicidal apes.
Not worth the trouble

The faux vaccine is to protect the alleged aliens ROFL. Yeah, when a more advanced species encounters a less advanced species, generally, the less advanced species is killed off, be it a long term or short term genocide. It's like when they gave the North American Indians blankets with smallpox, you know, to vaccinate them. Or when the english/scottish/irish showed the Beothuk in Newfoundland how to sterilize their skin with fire. If we have aliens coming in, they probably made the jab, so saddle up, it's going to get ugly.
Yeah, vaccine, LOL

They will apply the poor migrant trope on the aliens, bleeding heart for their long and dangerous journey.
Sure they have poisonous pinky fingers and a taste for bum probes, but think of the children, err I mean larvae.

Never once do these entertainment pieces show the negative effects that this would cause (biologically, culturally, economically, etc.) just that we have to help E.T. and take them in.

Hollywood is the artist we commission to depict the world outside our cave.
We provide food and sustenance, they provide entertainment.
The aliens are from Afghanistan..

Alien Nation and District 9 come to mind immediately. I'm sure there are more.
I see someone beat me to it and even included posters.
