Earlier this week the SA Health Department confirmed that students allegedly assaulted by Cuban police were indeed students from South Africa.

To say shortly relations between the ruling ANC and the regime of Cuba have been close over decades, with various programs e.g. of mutual exchange (doctors and engineers) being funded by the hard-pressed SA taxpayer.
And so far any results or returns for South Africans remain pretty murky (or at least mostly untouched by the dominant leftist media).

But anyway we still have "disadvantaged" students in Cuba.
Although a few years back it was already a scandal that they wanted to come home, because they didn't get enough meat, and they had to throw the toilet paper in a bucket (socialist plumbing).

Meanwhile here Cuban doctors tried to go AWOL, and had to be forcefully repatriated in the late 1990's.

Now there's a new incident:

Although, I've been checking out the commentary for a while on various clips, and a lot of people are actually saying: good finally these over-entitled brats are getting a bit of a slap.

Spare the rod and spoil the child.
Well done Cuba!

But oh my God, if this had happened in Europe!

Ja - you want to be little socialists?

It's time you got some real socialist discipline!

Sad part is I was thinking something similar.

This is Cuba, their utopia, this is the kind of behavior they want to bring here so they better not get upset. Plus, I highly doubt Cuba will care what anyone thinks. lol

I read the article linked....
Maybe students should read up on that country and not go there by choice.....what did they expect from a socialist/communist regime? I find it hard to have any pity....the very citizens of the country are treated worse than dogs.
Sounds like SA should find a better country to do business with.

Wow, not sure what's going on there (my OP clip), but a heavy intervention.

I understand some sentiments about it.

But ultimately, never cool for people to be assaulted.

I partied with some South African navy submariners in the Johannesburg area a long time ago, and they ranted with disfavor about Cubans and Angolans. It was 1988 ... a long long time ago, and there was a proxy war going on, and these guys were front line monitoring shipments of supplies and vessels every day, but not allowed to sink ships, while their special forces fought (and kicked ass) during this proxy war from South Africa vs Angola and Cuba. I bet there remains some animosity between Cubans towards South Africans to this day as as result. I certainly would not be surprised. Yeah, that assault sucks though, regardless, but there may be a deeper foundation for the behavior beneath what is being reported. Just saying.

Whilst both South African and US police are renowned for their restraint and evenhandedness.

I had a "famous" soccer player living across from me. Parties, loud music and drunken people everywhere seven days a week at all hours and the South African police did f-all. Entitled idiots think they can go anywhere in the world and do the same thing. Well, I guess not anywhere, lol.

They got what they deserved. #sorrynotsorry

The Bantu "heerenrasse" (master race) they've intimidated everyone into believing.

Well we all quiver and shake in South Africa ... but once you've ruined it completely, don't expect to be welcomed anywhere else.

You haven't made a good name for yourselves since Mandela.

Your arse-kissers notwithstanding.

Hate to say it, but this may be a warning to other South Africans.

I like to think of it more as a "wake up call" than a warning.

Whilst I don't condone physical violence in any way, this situation is a classic example of overentitled brats thinking they can do as they please wherever they go. I've lived in South Africa for more than 30 years and can attest to the fact that "some" people act out and consider themselves outside the law. No consideration for anyone or anything outside of their current event. A wake up call indeed.

Reality is....like how Cuba does things or not......when you go to another country, you best learn how things are done there and you best abide by their culture, laws, rules etc. etc. And dont complain when things dont go your way.
This is a common problem when people leave their country. Americans do it too....Europeans also. And of course, when people come here to America too.
