The EU and its member states are under ZERO obligation to bring those migrants over the Polish or Lithuanian borders, as Belarus is VERY capable of sheltering and assisting those people. If the migrants do not wish to remain in Belarus, that is NOT the EU's problem; it is on Belarus to return them to their homelands.

Hooah!

This guy is not thinking critically.
It will just make Belarus worse .

Agree. Belarus does not owe anything to anyone)))

I never liked EU... but
Never let countries like Russia or Belarus think they should do it for them..
EU can and will die for its own impotence in time.. but the time is not now. It should be well handled break not a chaos.

But then even if the EU does not require Russia and Belarus to comply with EU laws, in particular, the 3rd energy package))))

A very primitive and crude provocation. Belarus is a member of the UN and a sovereign country.
If you continue your thought, then I can give many examples of who is whose puppet is in the world))))

Yep. This situation is not about the migrants. They are nothing but a tool for Belarus to use as a way of seriously harassing the EU.

What is going on here is that unofficial protocols were disturbed when the EU decided to contest the results of the last election in Belarus. Every time the West gets involved with political or economic affairs east of the EU, it provokes a response from Putin and his "lieutenants". The really dangerous bit is that the EU, through political or economic action, can trigger a response from Putin that may draw in NATO involvement because by itself, the EU has very limited military power to back up its foreign and economic policy.

Cheers

Your guess is possible. If the West thinks that direct, even armed, interference in the affairs of a sovereign country will remain unpunished, then it is mistaken. Only the answer will be subtle, taking into account the legislation of the countries and international law))))

This is not normal immigration, Belarus offers open border and green cards to everyone who comes there and go to EU side.

Same with US though. Most of the migrants on our border traveled through other countries first.

PLOT thickens

EX Ambassador and minister of Belarus Pavel Latuška has given inside information to EUobserver

Belarus 'trained Afghan and Iraqi veterans' for EU border attacks.

EUobserver

Belarus has trained Afghan and Iraqi war veterans to carry out armed attacks on the Polish border, a former regime insider has warned.

"The migration crisis is being used by [Belarus president Alexander] Lukashenko to insert into EU territory people who have [military] experience and who additionally undertook training on Belarusian territory to realise terrorist acts," Pavel Latushka, Belarus' former ambassador to France and Poland and former culture minister, told EUobserver.

Pavel Latushka (r) speaking at an Estonian foreign ministry event

He spoke amid escalating clashes between migrants and Polish border guards, which caused international alarm on Monday (8 November).

"Next, Lukashenko will go for a local military conflict on the EU border, and in the meantime he will sell the picture to the world about a humanitarian crisis, the Europeans being to blame," Latushka, who fled to Warsaw after joining the pro-democracy movement in Belarus, said.

"This is a form of Nazi-era propaganda," he said.

Weird. When the Polish military entered Iraq and killed women, old people and children there, you did not mind. It's time for reckoning.

Belarus - Poland situation might be a decoy to hide other actions what happens in eastern Europe in Ukraine - Russian border.

Belarus threatens to cut off gas to EU in border row

Possibly related:

Algeria to halt gas exports to Spain via Morocco

If indeed related we might also see a hiccup in Norwegian oil/gas deliveries to the EU sometime between now and winter.

eng.belta.by... MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said he had asked the Russian Defense Ministry via the Russian president to get involved in duty patrols along the borders of Belarus and the Union State of Belarus and Russia. He made the relevant statement at a conference with top officials of the Council of Ministers on 11 November, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I noticed yesterday that they had sent strategic bombers accompanied by our fighter jets. We should constantly monitor the situation at the border. We don't care about criticism. Yes, those are bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons. But we have no other way out. We have to see what they are doing beyond.”

EU is not a country.
Poland is not an EU.
Poland is sovereign country.
These people on the border are not refugees anymore, Belarus is a safe country, with no wars.
They are aggresive, mostly 20+ years old mans.
We Poles are kind for strangers.
But for poeple who destroys our border, want to get in illegaly, harm our elders and childrens?
Only tough attitude and no bottle of water.
Poor refugees? Attaking countries borders with axes and shovels..
We are kind but not stupid.

Relation from first lines. Take care.

This all smells like a Soros set up, just like the long marches into America from Latin America. Nicely spoken Arab boy well versed in the English language. Perhaps a provocation to turn the gas off during the "Dark winter"?
