When "media" existed it not at issue, this is about present day mainstream media. Neither is your sorely misguided view of the United States--though it is ironic because I'm sure the present day media shapes much of your opinion.

I think the best way to help curb the media would be to require that anyone labeled as news or press is required to report strictly on a factual basis with no opinion thrown in. Anything aside from that must be tagged with "This is an opinion of the author or the company that is putting this statement out. This is not a statement of fact but one of interpretation." or something similar. Any news outlet that violates this should be fined into oblivion or shut down.

I have no issue with opinion pieces or editorials, however they should always be labeled as such. The only items that constitute news are factual items. There should be no speculation or anything along those lines as well. Does this solve the problem of people taking opinions as facts? Probably not as most of the population is stupid enough to take an opinion as gospel rather than the facts themselves.

Fox News? Not anymore, Fox political opinion reporting. CNN? Nope, Cable Opinion Network, which I do love the acronym.

I'd honestly say the cure is worse than the disease. As long as people are allowing themselves to be polarized we are screwed.. It isn't about the media anymore, it is about everyone's confirmation bias.

You being here talking about how screwed the media is, is just a part in this whole folly. You will gravitate towards what you think is 'real news' which further makes the media skew their news. The media doesn't care about the news.. They care about ratings. The media doesn't care about 'right' or 'left'.. They care about eyeballs and money..

I don't think you fully grasp what the MSM is about now. We don't have an unbiased media, we have a propaganda wing of the Democratic party.
