I'm not agreeing with some of his decisions.

I posted on another thread that I do mentoring where I work. I spend time at a local University and at some of the High School Vo-Tech's. Before COVID you would see postings in the halls and on bulletin boards telling the students to "Stand Up for What You Believe", "Protest Injustice" and other like slogans. Some of the ones at the University actually advocated for violence. There were sign ups for trips to Anti-Trump rallies and to BLM rallies.

Now take Rittenhouse. A 17 year old high school student, who has been bombarded by these and other propaganda. He decides to stand for what he believes in. In his case though it is to protect people's property. So he calls an older friend and they decide to go and do it. His friend has the weapons and lends one to Rittenhouse. That brings us to what happened.

Do I think that he made a good decision, No I don't. Would I have made the same one at his age, possibly. ( I made a similar decision in June 2020)

His problem was that in the view of the MSM HE CHOSE THE WRONG SIDE. If he had shot up a group of "Proud Boys" he's have his own holiday! That's the problem.

With the exception of the weapon and his age, he did nothing illegal other than violate a dubious curfew. If the impartial analysis of the videos are accurate, there's no case against him, except for butt hurt Liberals and public opinion.

Rittenhouse will suffer the same fate as Zimmerman and always looking over his shoulder with crushing paranoia.

So he always has to be on the lookout for psychopaths like Matthew Apperson then. Easy enough to move states, change name a bit, and go on with his life. Something tells me he won't be dealing with any paranoia at all, aside from the usual a psychopath could have it out for me, which if you've ever wronged someone in any way during your life should be a consideration. You don't actually have to even wrong anyone these days, it's the perception in their mind that you've done them wrong that will get them frothing at the mouth for what they would deem appropriate retribution.

So long as he avoid inner cities and racist activist #holes like Minneapolis and Portland, he will be just fine. Not too many ANTIFAPPERS or race baiting thug supporters in most of rural America... and I think it's clear Rittenhouse would be perfectly at home and happy sticking to rural America.

I figured he wouldn't get the murder charges. Seemed pretty clear he was defending himself.

I'm not sure how the law in WI is though on how they go about it procedurally. Some states will charge you no matter what if you shoot someone and it enters in their back. I know Texas is that way, but I'm just not sure in this case.

But if it's even a question, getting it cleared in court means you can't be tried again, so him being cleared is a good thing and shows the court did their jobs I suppose.

I don't doubt this case was handled differently though seeing as how much attention was on it.

I love the argument being made against this kid.

"He shouldn't have been there!"

Well neither should the guys he shot.

"He was there looking for trouble!"

Well so were the guys he shot.

I love your argument. You seem to be arguing that two wrongs make a right.

I figure he went to that protest with the intent to shoot someone. If he did indeed provoke Rosenbaum, I don't see how they'll be able to argue self defense. Especially since he killed the guy by shooting him in the back. It will be interesting to see how this trial plays out.

Had to reply to this tangent. Both D.A.R.E. and Just Say No were horrible programs whereas Ohio’s Teen Institute (and several other states) and the forward arm The Medicine Show worked a little better.

Neither DARE nor JSN addressed peer pressure the way TI and Med Show did. The problem being there was little to know follow up other than Peer Counselors, which had more participants than Med Show (we were the biggest/best/longest running group in Ohio), but having done it all back then there was huge competition for funds.

DARE/JSN had the federal funding and State, County, Local Law Enforcement (and was a much bigger deal than you think when it came to jealously guarding programs. TI had the whole State and County Mental Health Boards support (psychologists, psychiatrists and profession counselors) and for costs went the Peer Counselor route. Med Show (might have been two smaller troops in the whole state), also promoted Peer Counseling in schools because we were just another school assembly like the guys with yo-yo’s or frisbees. Once we were gone, the seed we planted seldom germinated. Maybe in a few but far less than group antics like “Going On A Lion Hunt” call and response exercises.

But then again, I was a relentless bastard that improved a dialogue over a straight pin left onstage that broke the Ohio HS Guidance Counselors which was the iciest crowd I ever worked. Because the last thing in the world that a teenaged guy is to a roomful of HS Guidance Counselors is…is funny. Worked one so hard she slid out of her dress and probably wet herself in the process…as I said, relentless bastard.

Three things happened as a result of that show. The funding was made available from the state for any school that wanted to do a Med Show. We had lunch (nasty sandwiches) with the Governor’s wife per her insistence. And my own HS guidance counselor chewed me out for not doing her musical as a freshman…which locked me into my final three years. But those things lead to whole other stories…

And he is going to prison for a long stretch. Vigilante participation doesn't sit well with law enforcement or the public these days.

a reply to: CharlesTno he won’t and if you were thinking clearly you wouldn’t want him to. This would set a precedent to where you couldn’t legally defend yourself in this type of situation.

So what makes you think we still live in a law-abiding nation and justice system?

The executive branch has been stolen.
Crooked, immorality runs congress.
The Department of Justice is compromised, is run by criminals protecting the guilty.
Our schools are transformed into indoctrination institutions.
Over 500 citizens have been arrested and some kept in solitary confinement and inhuman conditions in the DC jails without bond for even the slightest offices.
I could spend all day here, but just saying, we now have traitors and thieves in control of our entire government and you really expect justice for this guy?
Get real. Wake up.

Partner, we lost law and order starting 12 years ago.
From the top down.

I don't support vigilante justice in any circumstance. The young dipsheat should have kept his ass away from there. He set himself up to take this fall.

I know. If I was the Judge, I'd move the trial to Juvenile Court, just to watch some people's blood pressure spray out their ears.

and that is probably why you are not a judge. You want a circus, not justice.

Honestly none of the possible charges really matter except for the ones where he shot the weapon.
It was clearly self defense so the prosecutor is just trying to muddy the water with irrelevant charges.

What are the charges that don't matter?

It was not clearly self defense. ............ He put himself into harms way. to defend property. He was in the street. He was scared and overwhelmed.

If a black guy would have gunned down a bunch of the Jan 6 rioters would you feel the same? Serious question? Ashli Babbit was gunned down during a riot and you probably think the shooter murdered her.

Probably not. Much as you wish to believe he will, the US is vast, memories are short, and the dudes he shot were white.

I dont remember Ashley smacking anyone with a skateboard. If a group of black guys were setting fires in my neighborhood, I would think it would be justifiable for a bunch of Trump supporters to stop them. Id hope someone would, if the police werent!

Unlike some damn, are actually people out there what color blind especially in this type of situation.

Personally I don't care if the shooter was a Navy SEAL. A man came at him with violent intentions while he was carrying a firearm. Anyone has the right to self-defense in that situation.

So if I take a wrong turn and pull into an antifa crowd and they start beating my windows out, begin to pummel me with a brick inside of a plastic bag.... I'm not allowed to defend myself?

Because I should have known better? Because there was a riot going on? Because I was in a car and they were on foot? Unless in the act committing a felony anyone, anywhere should be allowed to defend lives with lethal force.

**
You don't swing at police officers. Not because they're police officers calling not because they're nice, but because they carry guns.

The same thing applies to anyone else carrying a firearm. if you attack them, with the intent physical harm there's a possibility you're going to get shot. At the point you make the decision to attack you decided to roll the dice with your life.

Rittenhouse could have probably gotten off with manslaughter if he hadn't of chased a guy down and shot him in the back.
