I still think this flight would have been better as a new episode of the reality show Better Late Than Never, which aired 2016-2018, and followed Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw and George Foreman as they traveled around to various places in Asia and Europe.

Maybe Bezos can do that with a 2022 space flight, send Shatner back up there along with Winkler, Foreman, and Bradshaw, and of course let them stay up there a bit longer.

In all seriousness, William Shatner blew me away with his description of the flight, left me speechless!

Edit: Shatner's moved as hell, I'd say he's dumbfounded. That must be one doozy of a view on the way up there, and up there

Finding new life and new civilizations will do that to you.

Oh bless him! FF to around 2;45:00 in the live OP posted.
William Shatner has just experienced the 'God Complex' as they call it in astronaut speak. He's in tears with his experience.
What I was struck with was he was clearly emotionally moved by what happened to him looking back at earth. But Bezos and the rest are popping champagne , shouting and a hollering (Shatner refuses any, no amount of champagne can top what he has just experienced) while Captain James T Kirk in his own words is 'overwhelmed'. Somebody was living and experiencing the moment and it wasn't Bezos!
Will be interesting to see any follow up interviews he does.

Maybe Bezos has now surpassed the magical idea of simply traveling into space & back. Now that his rocket has completed several flights, and he himself has been up there, it no longer feels quite as special to him.

Now, it's just a thing. Just another flight. No big deal really....

At this point, it will probably take a flight deeper into space in order for him to once again experience that magical feeling.

Maybe, I gave the same thought a fleeting moment, but passed it by real quick.
Clearly I am not cut of the same cloth as Bezos.
I think a 90 year old man, who is clearly overcome by his experience that he is crying, deserves attention over a bottle of fizz no? Isn't that just common courtesy to somebody who has just stepped off your rocket?

Bezos was rude, yes. What a prick.

Luckily, I ignored Bezos entirely, this wasn't about him OR his company after that brush-off.

The trip moved a pivotal sci-fi actor that lent copious amounts of inspiration to the various industries and scientists, et al...that eventually built the ship that took him up there. Bezos didn't have much to do with that beyond capital. Shatner inspired many (if not MOST) of the people that did that work, and he himself got to reap the reward of seeing the payoff firsthand.

THAT is something special and means a hell of a lot. Not Bozo the Clown's antics.

I agree. I thought it was pretty rude of Bezos.
I just think that's the reason why he acted that way.

He knows it's still a special thing for others, but he no longer shares those same feelings himself. He can't help it. His mind is more focused on the next step.

When I first read about this, I assumed Bezos would be going up there along with Captain Kirk. The fact that he didn't kinda proves what I'm saying... maybe.

Me too, that was one hell of a take on it. He said space was evil, lol

That was extremely rude of Bezo's. Bill was emotional and Bezo stole his thunder. I could even tell Bill was pissed off too.
What a way to Treat a Star and one who paid to get on this flight. Man that was rude.

Not arguing with you at all, but I can't see what you are in Bezos. He is a salesman and entrepreneur at the end of the day. Folk like him have no soul, no human connection. They are completely focused on self. Those that aren't are very far and few between and most of them are philanthropists who get on with things quietly that you nor I hardly ever hear about.

Really great words from Shatner about space, life, death......

What did Bezos do? I only watched the informal clip of the 2 talking and Bezos was listening.

Yes, I picked up on that too, felt like Bill was going to just walk off!
First sign was Bezos saying "I want to hear this, I'll get back to you". Words to that vein. There's the businessman, right there! Then Bill refuses the champagne Bezos offers him, to me he looked like he was about to puke if he took one sip of it.
The 'celebrations' continue and I just wanted to scream "Do any of you people realise this man here is in slight shock? Have you no respect for a 90 year old man that has just done this???" I was livid! You can probably tell from my comments.
Bill then looked around himself as though he's landed back on the wrong planet! Had Scotty beamed him to some dystopian World? That's the point he looked like he was going to walk off.
Bezos made himself look like a fool and an ugly fool of an excuse to call himself a human being. SPIT!

90 years old and so oriented to place and time.. You guys picked the wrong President !

I was afraid if something happens to him, being in that age and all. Bezos only used him for marketing purposes and treated him poorly. All the other guests took his attention, all the other guests should have listened what Bill has to say instead of celebrating younger people there.. They should have respect elders and the MOST IMPORTANT charachter of trip ..BILL.... sadly this didn´t happen

There's still time for Joe Biden to catch the next rocket launch. One's heading out to Jupiter in a few months.

ATTENTION

Star Trek (S2 - Ep 25 "Bread & Circuses" 3.15.1968) is coming on right now, on the Heros and Icons network (H&I).

In this episode, Captain Kirk (aka William Shatner) gets laid.
