Coastal Massachusetts here and ALL the trees are heavy with fruit this year.
The Oaks are hanging low with Acorns as big and round as I’ve ever seen them.
The squirrels here are also collecting Pine Cones, Cedar Berries and Acorns at a frantic pace.
The Hazelnut trees have all been stripped already, I found a huge stash in the woodpile I keep in the old kennel.
The Wild Grapes had a harvest unlike I ever remember seeing, my daughter gathered a 5 gallon bucket of them in less than an hour down back.
Tie that in with what the Old Time Fishermen that hang out down on the docks are saying it sure looks like we are in for it this upcoming Winter….
I have a snow blower that mounts to my lawn tractor so I’m good for snow removal.
We have back ups of food etc. and we have a propane stand-bye gen-set that can run for about 14 days at halh load with the fuel tank we have.
If this Winter is anything like 2015 we will get buried by weekly blizzards for weeks on end.

Good Luck this Winter!!!
Good Luck to all………😎

LOL! Being near 64 now I guess I am getting into the elder category myself, at least to my kids I am.
I really stopped looking at the almanac years ago actually, yeah they sure vagued themselves into being irrelevant long ago in my book.
There’s 6 old fishermen who are inseparable down at the docks and they hang out in the same place every day rain or shine, the youngest is 88 and the oldest is 96, boys have these guys got stories to tell.
I don’t know how to explain it but when I think about this coming winter I feel something in my bones……IDK.
Another thing here is the coyotes, there usually den up around here by late Nov. but they are here in force already.
I heard them running a deer down in the swamps last night around 11 pm and it had to be a group 10-12 string at least.
All the cats around here that were allowed outdoors are gone, the telephone poles are thick with missing kitty and small dog fliers.
So far the normal timing and comings and goings of different fish types here is not out of the norm so there is that….🤷‍♂️
Time will tell, if we see fuel shortages like some of the doom porn suggests it could be a long one this year.
Fingers crossed here on the East Coast!
Good Luck…..!!!

You should stock up, just s mall pantry would help someone out. i feel everyone who is not going to be vaccinated should be stocking up. We have been for awhile, but luckily we live in a warm climate and can garden year round, which is what we are trying to do.

I'm convinced winters contribute to earlier deaths.

Michigan's coming off of a warm spell, the mid & upper 70's/pushing 80's we had was a little late, seasonally (though not unheard of) It's about 65* out right now, I think we're forecast to go to about 70*.

Unfortunately, none of what graced you with it's presence is slated to make it anywhere close to me. No snow for us yet, though one of the meteorologists around here said something about maybe flurries for Halloween. We'll see, it can be chilly & cloudy, rainy, cold & cloudy, or damn cold with flakes. Who in W MI wants to place bets this year?

Being cold in cold weather is a sign of Covid.

ISOLATE YOURSELF NOW!

According to the Red Cross, we have less than one day’s worth of blood in stock at current donation levels. So probably a wise idea to schedule surgeries as early in the day as possible.

Nice OP, gave me chills. Not sure how this got turned into a "weather" thread.

I have actually been fearing the last quarter of 2021 myself.

I guess we will soon find out how true Chaos Theory is.

Peace and God's Speed,
Quad.

Because like the OP itself, it's actually...ABOUT the weather, not just seasonal hardships alone? If we report what we see locally, and NOT all locales reported for stack up all Doomsday-like, then Winter may not be in fact, Coming. Not for all, anyhow.

Hey, you asked, I answered from my perspective.

I took it to be a reference to the 'Dark Winter ahead' that Biden told us that we are in for.

Got: A woodstove? a supply of seasoned wood? Long term storage food? Extra medications? Solar panels? If not you might be in trouble.

Well, a couple of days ago on UK television they had a huge section saying the Arctic is melting. Then they said we had to pay a lot of money to help it freeze again. Oh, and the Polar Bears are dying too.

Does the OP mention the weather? Yes, as a metaphor.
"Winter is coming" .
No matter your location. You WILL BE affected.

Winter is coming.

Not many seem to grasp the metaphor....
I felt what you were saying.
I understand.

I used to like Farmers Almanac but you are right, they are too vague to be anything more than amusing now.

My grandparents used to say you can forecast the winter by looking at a persimmon seed. Fork shape means mild winter, spoon shape means lots of snow, knife shape means bitter cold. This year they are spoon shaped. I think we may see some records set this year. Everything else is going batsh!t crazy, why not the weather too?

The weather/philosophical winter are the same. Both are looking to be worse than what we have experienced in recent years.
