I can't stand the Raiders, but John Gruden was a great football coach.

I don't care if anyone doesn't like my opinion...Gruden is a great coach!

I used to like the Bucs when Gruden was there, but now I see they're taking his name down off the ring of fame.

I haven't watched the NFL for probably 2+ years after the whole kneeling for the Anthem thing started.

Forcing a great coach down over some emails from over 10 years ago is just further evidence of why the NFL is both useless and done. PC culture doesn't belong in football, and neither do politics.

Too bad, I watched my first NFL game in 2+ years last Sunday (DEN at PIT). Sadly, this Gruden ordeal makes that game my last for the NFL.

"Popeye" was a great coach!

TOUGH if you don't like it! Football is a tough sport, and "p#ssies" don't win football games!

Another example of "Cancel Culture"!

So long, NFL!

Imagine if Hunter Biden was a football coach….

He would still have his job.

So we can find emails from 2011 for him?

Hmm. Seems like we could do it for others then, no?

Basically if you say something bad that's like 10 years old, you are worse then someone that has over 20 allegations of sexual assault.

Also there are numerous NFL players that have done worse and still play in the NFL lom

Society is clown world

On the plus side, Gruden was the lone entity on the Raiders that I didn't loathe. Now that he's gone, we can go back to full fledged "Raiders are #" mode. Added bonus, Raider fan yet again gets punked by their own team's ownership.

Oh boy... NFLPA petitions NFL to release all 650,000 Redskins emails

I have to assume that Bruce Allen emailed a number of individuals around the league aside from Jon Gruden. I also have to assume many of these emails are similar in content to the Gruden emails. If the league releases the entire treasure trove the NFL landscape will be forever changed almost instantly. I'm thinking owners pushed out (Dan Snyder first and foremost), coaches forced to resign, announcers fired, possibly players exposed. This won't end well and we can credit one man and his massive, fragile ego for all of this horse#: Roger Goodell. I guarantee you nobody (including DeMaurice Smith) gave two craps about the "Michellin lips" comment... not a single man in the league flinched over seeing a topless cheerleader photo, nobody honestly cares what Gruden said about Joe Biden, or queers, or Eric Reed... it was the fact that Gruden insulted Goodell in emails that motivated Roger Goodell to "get" Jon Gruden. Eventually, when the NFL as all have known it lays dead, Roger Goodell will go down as the man who destroyed professional football.

I mean… I get you are bother by the racial drama involved on this but Joe Griden was not a great coach by any measure.

Barely .500 winning percentage during his career. Won a SB with what everyone agrees was Tony Dungee’s players.

He had a good gig at ESPN no doubt but he was never that good of a coach. He is no Belichick, no Sean Payton, no Mike Tomlin.

He is just a middle of the road coach…more like Jeff Fisher.

How is it our President can say he doesn't want his kids to go to school in a jungle if a desegregation bill gets passed on the Senate floor, with no repercussions?

Certainly shows like Joe's Dad used to say Joey it's not what you know its who you know

Jason Whitlock has got some cojones to call out the sissified assholes.

Sports journalist Jason Whitlock chimed in with his thoughts on Gruden’s comments about Smith.
"Are we, black men, so fragile that Gruden’s opinion on Smith’s enormous lips can reduce us to tears?" Whitlock wrote.
“I’m just not that fragile. The opinion of white men just isn’t that important to me."

I'm guessing that John Gruden was in the political closet... and refused to go "woke". Why else would they mine hundreds of thousands of emails for "scandalous content"?

This is how people get "outed" in today's environment. This is how lives are destroyed.

Joe McCarthy was an absolute lightweight.

I haven't either. We refuse to watch a single NFL game. I used to be an MLB fan... no more.

The only two professional sports that I watch, are NASCAR and the PGA. If they enter the proverbial "woke-ness" fray? I will quit watching them, as well.

Yeah , NASCAR is another sport I can care less for. When NASCAR had FBI investigate the noose in Bubba Wallace’s garage . It was a friggin loop in the rope on the garage door to pull the door down.

Yes
The interesting part of all of this imo is that it is fallout from the investigation into the washington franchise.
Grudens emails couldn't have been the only ones with questionable content.
Why haven't they released all the emails for the same scrutiny?

Great coach, terrible GM lol.

All seriousness what he wrote was bad and wrong. Not all of it came from 10 years ago, I think some were as recent as 4 years ago. Regardless, he needs to be help accountable and this firing seems justified imo.

We can't compare him other football players, like Antonio Brown, Kareem Hunt, who are in the league for disturbing domestic issues. They will get more tolerance due to being players.

Jon is the CEO, the face of the franchise, you can't have your leader doing # like this.

Had Gruden been exposed right when this happened 10 years ago he would very likely still be a coach (if he wanted to). He would have gotten fired from his TV gig, he would have said sorry, and then People tend to forgive and people have the right to make change for the better of themselves and society.
