My wife and I have been watching these things develop. We have kids in each campus at our school district. The highschool and elementary are
amazing. The middle school is has gone straight mad max with their principle and new asst. principle.
Everything from male staff searching female students without a female adult witness
putting hands on female students to physically remove them from a class over an accusation the student had something she didn't
taking a female student home and not notifying her parents and making her change because her pants were deemed inappropriate (it was caught on ring
Covid restrictions prevent any parents from entering school grounds (against district policy) meaning if your kid is sent home sick they forge your
signature and send the kid outside to wait without supervision
racial and sexual harassment by students without disciplinary action taken (even after multiple reports)
I could go on..... for a while. the last 2 years have been pretty horrible here. Board meetings are closed to the public and meeting times are not
posted. You have to call someone in admin that never answers to register to speak at a virtual meeting and find out when it is. Home school really
isn't an option for us, and even home school is being looked at for federal intervention.
We joined a private facebook group to try to organize and PTO/parent teachers joined and immediately notified the district. It took a whole 2 days
for the principle to target my son. He called on a Friday telling me my son was disrespectful to him and would be giving him detention the following
Monday. (this is absolutely uncharacteristic of our son, he isn't perfect but we raised him better than that). The conversation started out
confrontational and ended so, I told him to go ahead and give him lunch detention but I wanted documentation, he said "yea, no, I don't have time for
that" so I hung up on him.
Yesterday I got the documentation, he filed a level 2 violation. He didn't give him detention, but because my son was riding his bike on school
property (leaving to come home) if he gets in any other trouble he will be suspended and I am not allowed to appeal it per the document he sent. He
was riding his bike on school property after school and had to be told more than once to walk the bike on school property (this is not a written rule)
so he is only allowed to ride his bike on the road.
Their pettiness wasn't unexpected. The creator of the facebook group has since closed it. Now I guess they can just call the FBI on us. good for
them. This principle came to our district after fleeing another in which he allowed bullying to a kid get to the point the child killed themselves
and he was involved in a federal lawsuit over it. He has the full support of our SuperIntendent. he and the asst principle are ruling their own
little kingdom and they like it.
