Get ready for even slower mail.
This is so stupid, I can think of dozens of ways to improve the postal system, but that isn’t what this is about.
It’s about control, that’s what it’s always been about.

There are only one or two things I get in the mail that I deem important. Hopefully in the future I can make that go to zero!

Normally during the holidays they expand hours, but this year looks like they will be reducing hours!

Ummmmm if you are trying to make more money wouldn’t you stay open during your busiest season? Like I said, it’s not about money!

Well, I can fix their ass then -- anything I buy online & ship that gives the option, comes UPS or FedEx, not USPS anymore.
Problem solved for me, dunno about everyone else.

As for MAIL mail, most of mine's digital, so I'm ok with waiting an extra day or two for the one bank statement I do get in hard copy paper form.

Actually, this is courtesy of Donald Trump.

“The Postmaster General is selected and appointed by the Board of Governors of the Postal Service, the members of which are appointed by the president of the United States, with the advice and consent of the United States Senate. The postmaster general then also sits on the board. The PMG does not serve at the pleasure of the president, and can be dismissed by the Board of Governors. The appointment of the postmaster general does not require Senate confirmation. The governors and the postmaster general elect the deputy postmaster general.

The current officeholder is Louis DeJoy, who was appointed on June 15, 2020.”

en.wikipedia.org...

Pay attention to that part about the PMG not serving at the pleasure of the President. That means Joe can’t fire him.

Maybe you forgot that Trump was the one who arranged for DeJoy to get the job?

Maybe you forgot that DeJoy received a lot of criticism last year when he immediately announced plans to slow mail delivery—just before the election?

fortune.com...

Louis DeJoy is the Trump gift that keeps on giving.

I got one to tell you, my local post office has gone from a great facility to none whatsoever can find anything, they have to close the doors several times a week because is no enough people working.

I have lost several packages in the last 6 months, when we ask what is going on, they just say that they are losing their workers and nobody is been hired to replace them.

Then they should just close the darn office and send the packages to the main post in the next county.

Is a disaster.

And don't forget more expensive.
We got an email here at work, saying that they had approved a "temporary" raise in package fees for the holidays.

Is anyone going to miss them, when they are gone?

This administration is doing all it can to make the lives of US citizens suck.

The Democrats are trying their hardest to
do all they can
to make the US a horrible
place to live
and doing it quickly.

Well, they are following the plan
make the US an awful place
to live and then the Dems are comvinced
people will demand socialism
and nanny state government
in hopes it will improve
their lives,
Just like the Chinese
Just like the Cubans
Just like the Venezuelans

A land where the political elite
live lives of ulitmate luxury
and everyone else is equally
poor, with minimal survival food,
free healthcare with massive shortages
leaving the masses to die of lack
of medicine and long waits for healthcare.
Yep the socialist utopia
in practice.

That is where the Democrats want to take us.

So slow down the mail at Christmas
another way to make our lives
more difficult and more unhappy.
The goal of the Democratic Party.

America has one of if not the best health care system in the world.

But only for the privileged few and extremely wealthy.

How's that fair for the other 320 odd million souls?

Seems to me what's happening is America is coming to terms with the fact that she's not the best in the world these days, aside form maybe at obesity or at the number of citizens she incarcerates.

The goal is to do better and that can only happen if there is a measure of equality for all, and that's not socialism nor capitalism per-say but bloody common sense.

Class war and division is where the real struggle lies.

Democrat and republican, right vs left mentality only serves to promote division amongst the people because the fact of the matter remains, its just not that simple.

The postal service is one government service that we should really consider significantly reducing. I know our constitution calls for a postal service, but I really don't see the point of it nowadays (at least in it's current format).

90% of the mail we receive is junk mail. Probably 5% are actual bills... of which 95% of those we actually get online but still receive a paper copy.

I think congress should raise the cost of a stamp to at least $1.00 and curtail delivery to maybe 2 days a week. If someone wants daily delivery, they can pay for it themselves or pick it up at the post office.

What part?

Stop telling others what to do.

Which is another problem that stems from being told America is best at everything.

People can say as they please to within the TnC of the site, if in doubt go read the rules or ask a mod.

The USPS was screwed up long before Trump took office, like 30 or 40 years before he was elected.
I know because I worked there, it’s been a complete disaster for a long time.
The main problems there are the archaic seniority system and 9 out of 10 management personnel are petulant, screaming sissies with no knowledge of how to treat employees.

I could write a book on all the disasters that I have seen while employed there.

And the USPS workers don't even need to get jabbed, WTH?

The last two years of the USPS have been the worst I've ever seen it. Before that, priority mail was pretty reliable, but not anymore. There are many easy ways to fix USPS, they don't want to fix it.

About an hour ago I sent a package to Rhode island overnight Express.
My company sends a lot of packages so I know the postal workers pretty well.
They told me that their shipping rates are going up for the holidays and back down in January.

Just found a link.

Mine has been slow since last summer. They put Dejoy in charge and then removed a slew of sorting machines. Guess it will just get worse. Personally think his conflict of interest should have him removed.

So, if the USPS is terminated, what happens to the thousands of people it employs?

What happens to the tens of thousands of people who depended on those thousands for their businesses and employment? If closing one factory can kill a city, imagine what can happen if you shutter an entire, nationwide institutional employer.

We can just go digital, do everything on the internet, you say?

Fine. What happens then when/if, due to some natural disaster (perhaps a Carrington-level CME?), or large-scale cyber-attack, the internet is forced offline for an extended period of time?

Without the "snail-mail" infrastructure available as a backup, business, production, the entire economy, would come to an almost screeching halt, with no reasonable way to quickly restart.

Seems the lessons of 2020 have already begun to be forgotten.
