Long Beach police said the school safety officer saw an altercation in the street involving the 18-year-old and another teenage girl.

A bystander's cellphone video shows that officer firing his gun when a silver sedan, in which Rodriguez was a passenger, sped off. The footage is part of a police investigation.

Rodriguez's boyfriend, Rafeul Chowdhury, and his brother said they were in the fleeing car. They said the officer never told them to stop, and fired two shots into the vehicle.

Rodriguez was shot in the head.

Had to dig a little to find.

Being shot from behind while allegedly unarmed and in a vehicle seems mighty sketchy. Waiting to hear more about this as it unfolds.

I intentionally tried to leave that out and let the story speak for itself.

As we saw with the Floyd saga, MAKE SURE YOU WAIT UNTIL *MULTIPLE* VIDEO SEGMENTS OF THE WHOLE ENCOUNTER end up in the public domain before drawing any conclusions.

Naturally, that NEVER HAPPENS until the Public Outrage Mechanism is whipped into a frothing fury, and we see that generally bits and piece of the story are trickled out, framed by the media to appropriately fit "The Narrative(tm)" of interest.

I can't POSSIBLY imagine a reasonable excuse for anybody to fire a weapon into a fleeing vehicle, short of the vehicle's passengers using weapons themselves (or the vehicle as a weapon) to endanger lives, and particularly if they are posing a threat to bystanders/pedestrians. Doesn't sound like the case here, but again.....WE NEVER GET THE WHOLE STORY FROM THE BEGINNING.

You won't hear any more - you see, the shooter was black (and over weight), victim was hispanic.

Standby whilst we wait for the media to go into contortions blaming white supremacists, Trump and/or the unvaccinated.

Guns protect us all.

This wouldn't have happened if everyone was armed and had their gun up.

Yes, I know. "Trust your government blindly and let them remove anything that could possibly cause you harm, by force if need be."

Your authoritarian stance is well noted in multiple threads.

Thanks for playing.

Noting in my post was authoritarian.

I was pointing out that if everyone is armed, and prepared for shoot-outs at the drop of a hat, there will be.

That is why the 2nd is a bad law for a modern society where all are supposed to have equal recourse to to the law. It completely bypasses that, and the innocent end up dead or maimed, usually for no good reason at all.

When a law becomes a major danger, and cause of death to its citizens, it is a bad law.

The 2nd ammendment isn't a law.

Nevermind that the school safety officer in a public school *is* an agent of the government, and in this case, the agent of the government is the one firing at unarmed non-agents of government.

This is the exact scenario that those against private ownership of firearms are advocating for.

I don't think it was a failure of notice as the person you are speaking is a prolific opponent of the Constitution.

Well it is one of the awful mistakes of the world. How dare anyone recognize that individuals have rights that government cannot take away? It's just so unprogressive. They prefer to believe that the government is the fount of all you and I and everyone else in the great unwashed is allowed to be, do, have, etc.

In their meager defense, they aren't alone even in our own country.

Plenty of people believe that the gov't should take care of them and in order to do so, they should do exactly as they say, without question.

Even as a vague suggestion, it is still a bad one.

But I think that you will find that the US Constitution consists of the overriding legal precepts in the country. If some legislature or statutory authority implements a law that is contrary to the US Constitution, then the Constitutional writ overrides it in all cases.

So, I'll call it a law.
