Today, millions of phones, tv consoles, games, devices stopped connecting to internet.
It is said that the certificate DST Root CA X3 expired. (usually last 25 years, but in this case no).

In 3 years, The new certificate ISRG Root X1 will expire.

Between 2021-2022 in order to buy and activate a phone line you have to comply giving and linking your name, full location and registrations (so they can link your bank account, crypto, -vaccines id?- etc-).
If not, then your phone and internet line by law will be deactivated.

Via expiring your mobile devices every 3 years, they have full control of your communications like mobile, internet access, tv, games, access to banking and money-, and control of you.

Each 3 years you will have to buy new products, AND you have to comply with the new order directives, if you want to have internet, communications, tv, games, or access to your money.

After 2024 is a good time for a global economic reestructuring.

You will own nothing, and be happy.

None of this would be surprising to me at all.

But we're still gonna need a link to a source.

the link is dated

Jun 12, 2020

at the end of the article it mentions todays date

Sept. 30, 2021,

One potential date for another way of failures is Sept. 30, 2021, when the DST Root CA X3 certificate used by many Let's Encrypt certificates expires

if you then google DST Root CA X3

i found this

DST Root CA X3 Expiration (September 2021)

which states

DST Root CA X3 will expire on September 30, 2021. That means those older devices that don’t trust ISRG Root X1 will start getting certificate warnings when visiting sites that use Let’s Encrypt certificates. There’s one important exception: older Android devices that don’t trust ISRG Root X1 will continue to work with Let’s Encrypt, thanks to a special cross-sign from DST Root CA X3 that extends past that root’s expiration. This exception only works for Android. What should you do? For most people, nothing at all! We’ve set up our certificate issuance so your web site will do the right thing in most cases, favoring broad compatibility.

I am certainly nowhere near any sort of expert or even low level techie, but it sounds like the issue has been resolved

I can not find anything about the 3 year cycle you are warning off though within the link you supplied

Not at all. You can just use one of the many alternative certificates available, or if the services that you use don't support them then you can use alternatives. You don't need to link this to your real world identity because there is minimal validation any valid identity will do including anonymous ones. The only exception are things that require your telephone number, but in these cases you've always needed to do this.

You don't need to give them your location, you can simply turn this off or firewall it out, or use a VPN with location asking during registration.

This is a certificate that's expiring, not a device, you're not limited to the ones that came with it. Simply Googling should tell you how to use an alternative.

I think that they're refering to this [url=https://letsencrypt.org/docs/dst-root-ca-x3-expiration-september-2021/]https://letsencrypt.org/docs/dst-root-ca-x3-expiration-september-2021/[/ur l]

This thread is just doom porn. You can use an alternate certificate simply by installing anything that the service your using recognizes.

True 20 years ago, but you can get phone service in the middle of the Sahara these days. Every other village in Africa has a web cafe or web kiosk. A lot of NGOs have been giving out finding for people to start up what are essentially internet rental businesses. People putting up microwave based internet connections and letting people use them by the hour.

I think about 2/3 of the world is online these days. Just not broadband. It's common for African villages to have communal services for example to allow them to see where they can get the best price for their produce in the area.

Have to agree with "them" for once ^^^

First off, CA's aren't immutable parts of a device/machine.

They should be able to be swapped out.

Secpmd. shrinking the expiry of CAs from 25 years is not a bad idea.

CA's merge or go out of business.
CA's can become compromised and end up permitting malicious actors to "man in the middle" communications.

Phones are a bit different, and your average user won't even know what a CA is let alone how to change it. Ultimately, at least for Android, the phone is running a modified version of Linux, and changing CAs is not brain surgery, nor should it require a device upgrade.

I have no idea where you're sourcing the info that changing CAs will require new hardware, as you didn't provide a link.

Until you provide more proof, I am not convinced what you say is factual.

you should realize that 25 years was a prior number, (sounded good), but now is reduced a few years, up to 3 years

For global internet blackout via programmed obsolescence

There is another way, where the internet access and phone services are being restricted:

Here there are 3g and 4G services, and all phones can switch automatically of band with any operator

This year I bought a mobile in Walmart, and walmart's internet service a month later.

The Walmart internet service didnt worked with the phone.
It was not possible to make any call, nor even make any report to the Walmart internet support via the mobile phone, because the toll free and * services didnt worked.

Walmart restricted their internet and mobile access to having only new and state of the art brand mobiles 4G.
(Yes , walmart discriminates by technology level)

So, my phone bought at wlmart a month ago didnt worked with walmart's internet.
Their solution is: buy a new 4G mobile.

Then I went with another operator and used the mobile without any problem.

Walmart has global presence. And it is the first time a carrier discriminates based on their mobile model.

Yes, Walmart is shown that you cant have access to internet nor make phone calls, nor raise a support order or complaint with Walmart if you dont have a new model 4G like they said. When in the city and in the local regulation it is not needed.

There will be 5G, 6G, etc....

With walmart you will have to comply with all they said or you are out of internet and phone services.
Even when walmart is against the law.

The New order rules...

The technical stuff: every smart device with network access comes programmed with a "key card" in its software that proves to the network your device is up to code and not some nasty electronic rapscallion poised to harm the servers and any connected users. But the code (like an expired ID) is outdated so you get mistaken for that miscreant they want to filter out of the traffic. Imagine thousands of customers trying to shop at a mall and being denied service because door security thinks they are suspicious. Like they are bare foot or maybe they smell like alcohol. Obviously a "misunderstanding" aka software error but rules are rules.

Now imagine that system is exploited to deny service based on a character profile which includes your political activities or your medical status because your device requires that information to activate the "key card" even if it's a subroutine that you didn't consent to.

This right here. Especially the CA compromise aspect which happens more often than people realize. Of course people don't realize it because all of this is happening behind the scenes of your favorite device/browser/whatever.

I can find no specifics toward device replacement, especially when it comes to expiring CAs. Simple update from the manufacturer should provide a pointer to the new CA when you run an update.

Not sure if related but I got a text alert from my internet provider that service was out this morning for a few hours.
