I've come across no source.
The translation of the title is "they activated the volcano."
What are we looking at here? This video is hard to come across on YouTube since it has so little views but it's apparently on tik tok so who knows if it's picked up steam on there.
If this is a legitimate thing that happened, why would they do it? This just makes me even more suspicious about the whole La Palma situation.

I saw this video before...like way before La Palma.

I believe they trew a jerrycan of water into an active caldera to see what happens.

Just guessing here, but it seems like that was probably a good thing for it to release some of that built-up pressure while it was still a low amount. Otherwise it would just continue to build up more until it would create a larger explosion.

I believe it would be near impossible to depressurize a volcano this way. The pressure comes from deep inside, not the surface.

Clearly a demonstration of how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent eathquakes.

So thats how a volcano is started huh?

Who'd have thunk it? Like alls you have to do is throw something into a dormant volcano and then boom! It sets it off.

Come on now…do you really believe it takes a plastic jug or a can to activate an already active volcano ? It behaved exactly as anything else would if tossed into hot lava, it burned up.

There have numerous eruption for years at La Palma. Underwater as well as surface eruptions. Islands are especially vulnerable to volcanic activity since islands are formed by undersea vents, islands grow larger because of volcanic activity.

This video shows absolutely nothing, and to actually draw the conclusion that a small jug tossed into a pool of lava would activate an eruption somehow is laughable. Any substance immediately evaporated and is gone in seconds and would zero effect on volcanic activity

Yup. Here's the same video with the info on it.

Incineration of organic waste in Erta Ale Volcanoes lava lake as simulation of what would happen if a person would fall into the lava lake (since both are organic and contain water and would thus be expected to trigger similar response).

It is frequently discussed whether it is possible to sink in lava. Due to its high density, a person would generally be expected to remain on the surface. Indeed it is possible to briefly walk on certain types of lava if professional heat-protective clothing is worn (do not try yourself). However, the video shows that falling from a height, a large object and thus also a person would be able to penetrate the crust of the lake and submerge in it. The test was performed with a box of camp waste (largely food rests) in a cardboard box.

Estimated weight 30kg, Size 60x60x60cm. Fall height, about 80m. The lake reacts with violent lava fountaining activity, presumably in part due to steam produced from the organic matter.

No...there's no reason to delete it. I had never seen this before. It was very cool and I'm curious about what this whole thing was. What was thrown and from where. It seems like it was from waaaay up there. Anyway, I think it was a great thread, who cares if you had the date wrong. S&F
