Men abandoning College in Unprecidented Numbers

Thats the latest split as enrollment for men has dropped a staggering 70% over the paste decade, with Covid speeding up the exodus.

Why?
Debt, no sense of purpose, wanna make money now, pragmatism. It aint that they are lazy, the see 100K of debt staring them in the face and are saying eff u.

Employers will have to start looking at experience compared to just a piece of paper.

Women will be the higher earners, so they will be paying the child support and alimony. IF they even get married. After all, dating down is a thing...

BUT, they will also be in massive debt as a Bachelors will leave you $100k in debt.

And what of the colleges, they thrive on a pipeline of misinformed meat to feed their machine. Its become a business as opposed to a place to make something of yourself with a plethora of degrees whose job prospects are so small and low paid that it would take a lifetime to repay the student loans. And....student loans are not forgiveable if you default....even if you declare bankrupt. It's economic slavery.

On some level I am glad to see this. Dudes(and girls) need to listen to Mike Rowe and get an apprenticeship or look at so-called dirty jobs until such time as they are stable and can afford a college or be mature enough to know what they want to do. Especially as many peeps dont even work in the career filed they went to skool for.

My son graduated collage 5 months ago and started a job earning $30.00 an hour, where none of his work associates went to college. (Construction assistants)

I'm thinking, why the hell did we pay all that money over the past 4 years!?!

Cuz they make you feel stupid if you dont go to skool. Its a ploy that started when Uncle Sam decided to get into the college loan business.

Its free money for colleges so they pay professors half a mil a year to teach rubbish with no repercussions for pushing gender studies degrees that will take 50 years to pay back.

I would also suspect that the social climate has a lot to do with it. What do most young men look forward to the most when going to college. I think that many would agree it is the notion of getting...what was it, a diploma? No. Ummm...connections. Maybe. I can't think of the word. Wait, oh yeah...LAID!

Guys are terrified of this now because of the culture. Men are afraid to flirt, to ask out, to hit on because they might be labeled, accused, etc. There is actually a phenomenon called the "sexodus", which describes a trend where young, viable men are dropping out of the sex circus because of the inordinate pressures they're finding there. With the ubiquitous rise in and ease of pornography coupled with video games, young men are deciding it's simply easier to rub one out and then meet up online with their friends to kill some zombies.

Look at the major comedians, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock et al, they have all sworn off, publicly, performing at colleges and universities any longer. Just not worth it, they say.

A few years ago a local distribution/logistics firm was hiring for a new facility.

The highest paid positions? Forklift mechanics. Requirements? "Applicable training or experience".
The lowest paid positions? Administrative. Requirements? Minimum four-year college.

When that's the case, why would someone (who can show up reliably and not mind a little dirt) put four years into some bull# studies degree?

Now of course there is a place for advanced degrees in fields like engineering and medicine. But for everyone? 80% of the workforce could get by with a vocational degree that gets them into needed positions.

If this continues, the shift in the labor market will be sesmic. Degrees are getting to be worthless....its down to WHICH college you went to .

It's the problem with socialism....sure everyone has a degree, but they become massively diluted.....and worthless.

I just started college a month ago.

My school is probably about 70-75% women from what I've seen.

Yeah, most of my classes find someway to inject race into everything.

One of my classes is a freshman seminar, a complete waste of time, but it's required by the school.

The 1619 project is part of the syllabus.

Another class on state govt. Is just straight democrat propaganda.

In a fraction of the time, you can earn Cisco certifications and start making money quickly in an expanding career field.

If you can rush towards a CISSP or CCIE, your 100K plus in any major area of the country.

NW Florida high skools have partnered with big corps to bypass college and get then practical experience as opposed to your first 2 years of college....which is basically repeating high skool.

Which college is this? A state funded one?

We're hiring apprentices at $20 to start with paid education in the field. 3 years they will be making $40+an hour. Designers with the skills are hiring in at $60 to $100 an hour. Many no college at all.
