Former NSA whistleblower and privacy advocate Edward Snowden has warned users to stop using popular VPN service ExpressVPN.

“If you’re an ExpressVPN customer, you shouldn’t be,” Snowden posted on Twitter.

Snowden’s suggestion was a quote tweet that shared news of ExpressVPN CIO Daniel Gericke’s role in Project Raven, which involved the creation of spying tools for the UAE.

There is no true anonymity in the information age in which we exist.

There is no big magical privacy shield that will prevent TPTB or anyone else with the inclination and resources at there disposal to discover everything you do online.

That's why one should make it as difficult as possible.
There is no "secure" machine anywhere .

Definitely.

For the same reason we put locks on our front doors to retard burglary.

I would say the best firewall would be a Russian one!
Think about this!
You wont to stop the Goverment and big buissnes and crimenals.
Russia wont the same thing!
Russia does not care what the people do.
only the Goverment and big buissnes!

you want the same thing!

I don’t use VPN.
Seems like a waste of money.
Anyone who really wants in and has ability will get in.
Below is the kind of stuff that pisses me off.

Some days ago I made a post HERE with the word Monocular in it.
Just this morning I downloaded a new Weather APP on my phone, guess what the very first ad was for.....
You get 3 try's

PS....NO......

They can come in handy for say viewing content only available in other nations.

There are a few free VPN doing the rounds.

I certainly would not stand behind the free versions security wise all the same.

After all you get what you pay for, and if the price is free, well there is generally a hidden element at play.

I’m far, far away from being an expert with computers.
In commercial fishing terms I probably wouldn’t even be a Shacker onboard.
Maybe I wouldn’t even get a job as a Lumper...

😆 Now you have words to look up....he he

Cheers......😎

I couldn't be more in agreement.

I did IT consulting for the expat community in a central Asian country around the turn of the century. Security was an issue and people world often ask me what was the most secure way to pass along information. My answer was always, go out in the middle of a big empty field and whisper in the ear of the recipient.

Anything sent via the internet is analogous to a postcard sent through the mail. Probably nobody will read it, but anybody who wants to can and will.

It's like a nice warm mug of cocoa at bedtime, it's a comfort thing. I've got a VNP so I'm OK, I'm comfortable knowing no body can track me. Oh yeah, If they want they'll have.
A nice analogy:- it's like an aircraft seat belt, you think it's ultimately for your safety. Naah. What it's really for is when the plane crashes they can quickly identify your body by your seat number.

There never seems to be a standout VPN provider. I have been trying for some time to find one to justify the cost. Its a huge gray area with no real solid providers that stand out. Opinions?

I used to use Private Internet Access, claim no logs, affordable with decent speeds.
