I don't know how the real-world colors go, but on Star Trek, yellow alert is the first, MILDEST alert. What was the alert before, green?

In case of lava, shouldn't it be an orange alert anyway?

The 4.0 quake I believe is the strongest to date.

4.0 what? Without units, numbers are meaningless. Could be seconds, kilometers, people, casualties, days...

If you're talking about Richter scale or 'Moment magnitude', which apparently replaced it, then your statement is still inaccurate; there have been stronger earthquakes on this planet than 4.0 in either of those scales.

It went red...it was yellow before the eruption occured.

This morning activity is down, however there still is seismic activity so there is a chance of another vent opening up, possibly spectacularly....or it could be winding down. Even the experts have a tough time predicting these.

One thing is for certain, this poses no risk for a tsunami.

Edit to add:
A 4.0 on the Richter Scale, the universal way we measure earthquakes....4.0 is still relatively mild though. At that time the 4.0 was the strongest earthquake measured before the eruption, which is a lot more powerful than the 2.5 and 3.0s that were observed.

I do not think you understand what information was available. This threat began before the eruption.

While 4.0 is still a small earthquake, it is significant in relation to volcanic activity.
