The Bitchute guy sounds like Diamond from Oppenheimer Ranch Project. No, it's him.

This thread reminds me of the old ATS before it became so political.

S&F for the OP.

There has just been a mag 4.0

Not sure of the depth, but the quakes are getting more powerful.

Maybe I should start looking for a blue shed to jump in

And they are on orange alert, it's been upgraded from yellow.

I find it interesting that one of the main roads that could be used for evacuation have been closed off and they can only extract up to 2000 people

Couldnt agree more. This is the type of 'doom' that originally brought me to ATS more than a decade ago. Well not specifically this volcano lol but earth changes in general. Granted the reality is, even if it does go and cause a tsunami of some type that i. Itself doesnt automatically mean it will be an unprecedentedly catastrophic one... But just the 'potential' and the fact that major news sources amd officials are either ignoring or downplaying said potential makes it the perfevt fodder for what ATS used to be comprised of.

Imo Unfortunatly the site has been overcome with a very specific demographic that is more concerned with drinking a very specific type of koolaid and engaging in a good ole fashion echochamber circlejerk. It is what it is though and to each their own... There has always been some politics mixed into conspiracy forums. Sadly- people are too concerned nowadays- it seems- with completely manufacturing their own conspiracies that allow them to stay out of touch with reality VS paying attention to the actual things going on in the world around them.

Thats just my $0.02 though. I for one, am saddened at what ATS has become in the last 4-6 years though. It was one of the last true vestives of denying ignorance and truly questioning what we are being tols about a range of topics. Now ot just seems peopld are fine embracing ignorance, and ignoring reality.

But back to my original point, i couldnt agree more. Even as just a heads up, its worth keeping an eye on. Seeing how the U.S gov and others havd treated covid, downplaying the risks to quell panic, and sacrificing people solely to keep corporate profits coming in... Theres no doubt in my mind that if/when something does happen that puts a large % of us in danger again - like a collapse at La Palma causing massive tsunami- they will downplay that too to prevent panic and keep being supporting corporate oligarchs in penthouses. The Only people who would be aware are those of us still entertaining the fringes of science, and contemplating 'what ifs' ahead of time.

So im with you- paying close attention to whats going on and just hoping if and when it does go it mirrors the last eruptions in the 70s and not the worst case scenarios some scientist have alluded to.

Yes, this site has sucked me into the political garbage too. Its only recently I have come to see all of that as a distraction from what is really going in in the world. So I'm trying to stear clear of it and look beyond to what they are trying to hide. Whoever "they" are.

I have been an ATS member for almost 15 or so years, and it has rapidly descended into a political points scoring chamber. The content of old was very very good and engaging. I actually learned a hell of a lot from this site in the past. But now it seems to be the home of very angry people spitting out their own flavour of political bile, whilst in the real world a very real and present danger is happening right now, that will not care if you have been vaxxed, or if you are blue or red.

Maybe if it erupts it will also wake people up from THEIR dormant slumber?

Thank you for the update. The 4.0 quake I believe is the strongest to date.

While exciting, I hope if an eruption happens it is relatively average with no major landslide and tsunami. That said, the epicenter of the earthquake swarms is near the south side of the island and not the existing volcano cone, making the changes of a landslide that causes a tsunami.much more likely if the south side erupts.

Obviously something I will be watching closely, while the alert level has gone up, there are not (yet) signs of an imminent (within days) eruption.

I just saw that....1km deep. Just yesterday the news was reporting the earthquake swarm was easing, however the past 12 hours there appears to be an uptick of quakes.

www.volcanodiscovery.com...

The earthquakes this morning have been more intense and shallower, while I have yet to see any reports, I would be willing to bet that there is some ground deformation or bulging going on.

Also the deformation has increased to over 15cm which doesn't sound much but that is a LOT of rock of a large area

3 earthquakes above 2.5 in the past hour and fairly shallow. I think it's safe to say the earthquake swarm is NOT easing as reported yesterday.

I found a few webcams that are focused on Mount Tiede, no signs of gas venting from the summit/cone.

The earthquake swarm is focused south of the mountain, I am not a geologists not knowledgeable in volcanic activity but I would think any visible gas venting would be focused near the earthquake swarm.

Even if this erupts and produces a tsunami, it is highly unlikely to be a mega tsunami that inundate all Florida and most of the east US coast.

While it is looking likely that La Palma will see an eruption again, it could happen in a few days or it could happen a decade from now, it is unlikely it will even produce a tsunami, and highly unlikely a mega tsunami.

Even if an eruption manages to cause a landslide that triggers a tsunami, even if it rivals the Japanese tsunami of 2011, by the time it made it across the ocean it would only be a couple feet hight and the effects would be minor. Even a super doom porn scenario where the tsunami is initially 100+meters, it would be less than 5 meters by the time it crossed the Atlantic....which would be like storm surge from a major hurricane but from Florida to Canada, as well part of South America, the Caribbean and the Bahamas.....

It could happen but the chances are almost nil.

Would the eruption be likely to interrupt European travel, do you think? I hear discussion of the slide and tsunami, but not much about the effects of the eruption itself.

It's not almost nil, I wish it was but it isn't.

It's not just the flank dropping into the sea that is the issue. There is also the fact that it is an island surrounded by water, if this thing erupts and exposes the magma chamber or a large magmatic intrusion, the sea water will come into contact with it creating a very explosive event (think krakatoa) because of the temperature differential of the cold seawater and the magma. Effectively blowing the whole island up.

There is also the fact that this system is connected to others in the region.

My main concern is not just the tsunami danger, but also the amount of nuclear power stations on the United States east coast. If they can't shut down the reactors in time, or the shielding isn't up to scratch, then chernobyl will look like a day in the park!
