You don't see many people over age 75 in the Chicago area who are morbidly obese.

Obesity killed them already.

Yet the vast majority of covid-19 deaths are people over age 75.

Spoken like a true socialist.

I'm not a socialist. But I am not stupid either. Your position speaks of a snake oil sales man. You could care less if what you sell some one kills them or not. And that 50 cent profit you speak of, it's government welfare for the already wealthy. Your a socialist except you want to redistribute the wealth to the wealthy.

The FDA was created to protect people from being sold dangerous stuff. You know why? Because people will definitely sell someone poison and tell them it's a cure. All in the name of a 50 cent profit. But of course it has been bought and paid for, so forget any protection. And this is where it all leads to. A questionable vaccine. Information being censored. Vaccine mandates. Congratulations on your success in fighting socialism.

I agree. My issue is that with all of the PC bull#, fat people are the last group that can be generalized and picked on.

WTF are you talking about?

Is it the fault of the little debbies that some people like to consume a whole box in one sitting?

Was that caused because someone made 50 cents selling those little debbies?

Would it be better in your opinion if little debbies were made by a non profit org?

Or the government itself?

NO.

It is still the fault of someone choosing to eat an entire box a day.

Nanny state protection won't help.

YOU want to ban companies from producing foods that you don't like.

Because some people choose to abuse them.

And the company that produces them might make a profit.

You may not think you are socialist, but you ARE making a fascist/socialist argument.

The government is run by people. Rest assured people will never fail to be evil. There is no perfect system because people are evil. But anyone thinking the system we have is fine/perfect/better than the rest. Might want to rethink that. The reason we have company's mandating vaccine's and getting away with it is, this is what many have thought was so great. It's what they wanted, right to work, translation no right to work.

Both sides are just as blind. No wants forced vaccination. But the OP wants a forced diet for the poor, ironic to say the least. Completely oblivious to the fact, the people he wants use to enforce his dietary recommendations. Are at least partially responsible for the obesity problem.

No it's not little debbies fault.

It's the governments fault for subsiding corn. That makes corn cheap. The main ingredient in little debbie cake is corn syrup. Making little debbie snack cake cheap. Also helping little debbie make a profit. That's socialism. Redistribution of everyone's wealth to help them make a larger profit. And the oil company's.

But the best part is. A little debbie floor worker probably makes 10$ a hour. So they are eligible for food stamps. Further redistributing the wealth, by subsidizing little debbie's work force. Because a multi-million/billion dollar company can't pay a living wage.

So the government is helping make people fat. Unhealthy food is cheap, while healthy food is expensive. If you're poor, you're going to be eating unhealthy. Whether you like it or not.

Even better than that we give tax breaks to billion dollar company's so they will create jobs. How stupid is that? You need to give money to a company that has BILLIONS of dollars to create jobs. Wealth redistribution is alive and well and has been for decades. You're the socialist you just don't know it.

Now you're tripping over yourself.

Make up your mind. It's either evil capitalism and freedom or the government. Now you're blaming both.

I suppose only one thing/person can be responsible. It's a known scientific fact, sugar is the sole reason for obesity. And it's the fat persons fault. Carry on.

The U.S. government does NOT subsidize corn to reduce prices.

Democrat propaganda BS at it's finest.

We PAY farmers to grow LESS corn to prevent bankrupting the global agricultural industry.

Every year.

If farmers accidentally produce too much corn, the government will actually purchase the excess to use for ethanol production and foreign aid, again to prevent bankrupting farmers in other countries.

We can produce MUCH more corn than we are.

And choose to not do so for the benefit of others.

NOT the other way around.

Our government actively INCREASES the cost of corn.

Intentionally.

And at significant cost to taxpayers.

Entirely absurd post.

Entirely democrat propaganda BS.

Entirely from a socialists viewpoint.

Entirely fascist recommendations.

And entirely WRONG.

An industry you find few obese people in....😁
i’ve begun to tell stories. Can’t think of any that involve obese people offshore though. It really just is not seen.
Man-killing work does not produce fat people, incredibly muscular people yes. Obese, nooooo

Lol, I can agree with that! My sister-in-law's entire family is FL shrimpers/fishermen (depending on season, they vary their catches accordingly)

The brothers are all in the business, they're all stocky, solid guys. Far from thin, but not remotely fat, either. Just....muscular hulks.

Nevermind that a lot of that corn has been going into ethanol which is not cheaper fuel nor is it more efficient which the poster in question contended. It is supposed to be sustainable and that's the only selling point to it which isn't even a very good one.

That and the fact that it eats up much of our excess corn to keep prices higher.

Intentionally.

The only inch I'm giving him, is that it's effectively a racket the country has going on.

On one hand, there's the processed food industry itself, peddling what they do. On the other, it's an almost detached involvement of the medical industry, patching up the ill-effects of the former's wares.

And on the side of that two-sided coin, we have the government sucking money from, and giving money to, both sides, while the populace has been stuck, caught in the middle amidst multiple different angles of conflicting info and advice. For decades.

The one thing I'm sure of is where there's lobbyists on one industry's behalf, you can bet they're scratching another industry's back to retain the customers and vice versa. It's really sort of a sloppy 3-pronged problem, because all 3 end up feeding each other money, and consumers, in the end.

Read it and weep
Or this
You're wrong
Or this
How many would you like?

Wrong again.

Overlooking that you provided democrat propaganda sites as source...

What do you think the 'subsidy' is?

We are paying farmers to not grow corn.

To keep prices high.

Democrats can call them subsidies all they want.

Won't make it true.

A 'subsidy' is paid to someone to LOWER the cost of production, and of a commodity.

We do exactly the opposite.

And also provide a crop insurance service to prevent a single bad year from bankrupting our farmers.

That is also NOT a subsidy.

Even if democrat propaganda calls it such.

Start your own weeping.

Rent control is a subsidy.

Democrat's 'affordable housing' schemes are subsidies.

Obamacare is a tax/regulate/mandate/subsidy system.

The vast sums democrat's have taken from us and given to producers of electric vehicles are subsidies.

Obamaphones are subsidized.

Paying farmers to not plant some fields in order to maintain or increase prices is not.

Understand the difference yet?

Oh you can't factor out the voters. The politicians do need the money, but they also need the votes. So they can't alienate the people.

Imagine upset certain people are when you tell them that ads on TV don't pick up the Big Mac and shovel it in your face ... you do. Ads on TV don't buy the sugary cereals for you kids because they whine and cry if you don't, you do. You can get upset over the relationship between politicians and business, but your local CEO can only vote once, same as you. And if you keep voting for him, then whose fault is it? Yours.

Until we face this fact we can not move forward. Morbid obesity must be addressed and hit hard. It's causing an enormous amount of healthy issues. Continuing to ignore it will only make it worse. A good start would be removing soda from food stamps. It's the #1 food item purchased with food stamps. It has to be banned from food stamps along with many other sugary products. It has to stop. And glorifying obesity must stop. It is not healthy and it's harming the youth making them think it's fine. It's not. If 78% of covid deaths did not happen this illness would not be an issue. We have a horrible obesity problem and it must be confronted.

youtu.be...
So you are against Mandatory Vaccinations, but you are for telling people what eat and drink.
You are just part of this countries problem... And until ppl wake up and smell their hypocrisy, this will continue to spiral out of control.

OBESE/OLD Jan6 Chairman Bennie Thompson has Covid-19: www.npr.org...

OBESE IL. Gov JB Pritzker has Covid-19: www.chicagobusiness.com...

If both of these men avoid being hospitalized, it's proof that Covid-19 is now no more serious than the common cold or flu.

Government bodies or Private companies that try to tell us Covid-19 is still more dangerous than the Cold or Flu are led by wimps, or liars, or dummies, or a combination.
